What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

For anybody that ran aux lighting from the bed of the truck....how the heck are yall getting the wires into the cab?

Do yall run them to the engine bay and then into the cab? thank you

 

I remember seeing somewhere there's a plug in driver side floor that some guys used. Check under your carpet. I'm going that way when I run power back there

There should be one under the driver's side, and one on the passenger's side. There are a bunch of wires that come up from underneath on both sides.

 

Ok cool. So yall are using the existing grommet where the factory harness enters the cab?

Or one of the grommets where there arent any factory wires. Thank you

 

I used the one that has wires through it. Just cut a slit in it, so I could put the wire for the power Pop N Lock that I put on, and ran it through the passenger side so I could tap into the wire that unlocked all the doors.

 

Sounds good. Im in the middle of making a master harness for all my lighting/accessories

Just been scratching my head if yall go through the underside of the cab or into the engine compartment then into the cab

 

Into the engine compartment and then into the cab is way too much work in my opinion for something coming from the bed, especially since there is a way to bring them in by using the ones under the cab. Less wire to use!

 

@Cativelense how difficult was it to run that? Did you have to remove seats to access it? I remember seeing something bout that a while ago

 

Nope, no seat removal. It was pretty easy actually. The wiring comes up right under the seat. All I had to do was slide the seat back so I could see the wires better.

 

I wired all of my auxiliary switches from the cab to a fuse block/relay panel in the engine compartment, then ran the power to the accessories in the rear from the relays. I also ran some 8ga to the back for another fuse block, but everything running off of that is switched in the bed. The only thing I have entering into the cab through the grommet in the floor is my CB coax.

 

@Cativelense - are you worried about moisture getting in through the slit in the grommet?

Did you reseal it in any way? Sorry for the million questions.

Some people have been using shoe goo, flex seal, or basically any other decent weatherproof sealant to prevent moisture ingress.
