TRAC, Auto LSD,... This is new for me, in the Tacoma 2014 I bought last november.
My older Taco2008 didn't have those options.

I want to understand well how it works, and I've read the complete threads about that.
It was quite complicated for me because english is not my mother tongue.
After reading the threads, I understand : (please correct me if I'm wrong)

    - Switch off = normal mode = TRAC + VSC ON, in both 2WD and 4 WD

    - Switch on = Auto LSD ON, in both 2 WD and 4 WD

    - Switch on (3 seconds) = open differ., auto LSD off, and TRAC off, in 2 WD and 4 WD
(I guess this is the right position to drive in 4WD...??

    So, I have 2 questions :

    - what is the most effective and appropriate mode on slippery roads when 4WD is not required ?

    - in 4 WD, in heavy/deep mud, when I need throttle response and horsepower to avoid getting stuck, or because I'm towing another vehicle, sometimes there is no throttle response because TRAC + VSC are still operating .....

    would appreciate any suggestion

You can turn off VSC to gain more power when needed. I’m not sure of specific number power gains though. However the manual does state so.

TRAC and Auto LSD turn off when engaged into 4x4 as Auto LSD has to be enabled in 2WD only and isn’t meant for continuous driving. It kinda saves you a step from having to lock your diff or engaged 4x4 or 4lo.

    Granted everything is situational.

    Thanks for reply.
But, if TRAC and auto LSD turn automatically off if 4WD engaged, what is still operating, with the slip indicator flashing when I use the 4 x 4 ??

Pretty sure Auto LSD and TRAC turn off in 4 lo. I don't remember ever seeing the lights on in 4hi and I've heard the auto LSD engage in 4x4

    Thank you guys

There is a lot of informations in those threads (too much for me, so i'm lost)

The only info I need is, for Tacoma 2d gen, driving in H4, = how to avoid those automatic cuts of engine power when I need throttle response and horsepower ??

Hold your traction button down for 3 seconds should do the trick.

Things work out for ya ok? Manual recommends 10 miles a month in 4hi or 4lo to lubricate gears.

I've tried yesterday, in 4WD and mud, after switching off 3 seconds as recommended.
No more cuts of engine power.
But, even so, something is still operating and flashing on dashbord...(????)

    thanks for your help

If you just tap the traction button the throttle power loss will shut off but rear lsd will still function for traction.
