Abused my hands on this task tonight. Passenger side went back in easy. Ended up having to release the tabs on the driver side and pull the housing out then connect then reinsert. But it’s done. And it’s LEDs. Shouldn’t have to do it again.

Said a lot of cuss words (I have a tow package).
Removal was easy, reinstall, not so much...
And naturally I forgot to test 2nd one and had the bulb reversed, so bonus! I had the pleasure of doing this three times instead of two!

All other bulbs were easy (vanity, map, dome), although dome arrived with end caps off, a quick solder job fixed those, complained to seller, so getting a replacement (spare).

Counterclockwise twist worked for me. So now maplights and license plates done. Where else will the same bulb for on the Tacoma?

I’ve been messing around with this for 45 min and can’t get the god damn bulb back in the socket. Glad I found this! Will try tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully the popo will be ok with only one plate lamp for now.

Has anyone run into a issue with their bulbs flickering?

I've had my wedge-style bulbs in for 1.5 years or so and have noticed first thing in the morning they tend to flicker a bunch. I'm thinking I'll pop em up and see if there are any clips I can bend out to get a tighter fit, but any ideas otherwise?

Hmm replying to my own post? Oh well. Got a pair of extended needle nose pliers up there. 5 min, maybe 6 max and had both sides done. Had the left side bulb hanging down for a few days.

Glad I found this thread and read through it. Only took 5 minutes to swap bulbs with a set of JDMA stars. Next is the interior lights. Thanks guys!

    bulb with LED
Many thanks andynwa7. Very easy (if you don't have huge hands) to replace the standard 194 bulb with LED. ( installed blue LED to match the paint of my 2016 Limited Crew Cab Taco.)

I agree, the passenger side was easy to remove and install. The driver side was tough to twist/lock tight but after 10-15 mins, I was finally able to get it to twist lock using a piece flat head screwdriver. I didn't want to ever replacement the LED bulbs again so I went with Sylvania 2825 (lifetime warranty) $9 each on Amazon.

I'm driving around with my passenger side LED and driver side still stock halogen. I cannot get the driver side light to twist out. I can't get a good grip on it!

So I found it way easier to pop the whole light housing out towards the license plate, then counterclockwise to access the lightbulb. The way I did it was to leverage a flathead against the black clip keeping the lenses secure. If you can’t get the second one because of space, I successfully pryed the second clip from the outside between bumper and lenses without scratching etc.

F6C6B85C-9FB3-4993-86DF-9796AB75071A.jpg Ok so they look awesome, really bright and the pics for reverse could be off for the “test” as I have street lights by my driveway and a picture of lights through a screen on a screen you are looking at etc etc. o_O I didn’t actually drive in reverse, but for me- in the very small amounts of prolonged reverse driving I need, they should work for me :woot:
