I broke the 12v adapter for my interior led kit

I lost the cigarette adapter that was wired to the lights. The 12v adapter even had a resistor, switch, fuse and possibly more on it. So I'm just wondering what I need to do to allow me to use it in line with a switch at this point.

I've completely lost all but the fuse which is rated for about 2.3amps.
My plan was to use a switch hooked up to a relay with a fuse in line for power, however I'm still confused about how a relay works to a degree (bosch) and I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get this led kit working again.

Then run to your lights. Pick any tap you want, and virtually any switch you want for such a small amp draw led light system. The important thing will be to use a small fuse so if there is a short, then the fuse will blow before wires melt.
