Any interest in a dash cam group buy?

I am sure on two f800 pros. Not positive on the other two though, so it'll probably be Friday when I'm off and bored. Gonna make a call to wheelers offroad and total chaos fab too friday for a LT setup my dad wants lol.

@USDashCamera, questions to you. I understand it is possible to manually turn off F800 PRO so it does not go to parking mode. I understand it must be done before switching ignition off. How annoying it is? One needs to hold the power button for like 5 seconds?

I am thinking PMP w/DR-590 might be a better user experience. Yeah, one needs to remember to turn it back on, but at least it is instant. I hate press-and-hold buttons, how lame. This e.g. disqualifies essentially all aftermarket headunits to me. They all do that nonsense.

Btw, do you know if DR590 announces itself when it is on? I suppose so based on experience with DR400.

I am only leery about the coaxial cable for rear camera in DR590. I will be installing few setups in wagons, and routing things to the hatch is major pain in the ass that I'd like to not do again. F800's micro-usb rear camera cable feels like a more solid choice...

 

Btw, a simple feature a wifi capable dashcam could implement - do not enable parking mode if a wifi of given name is in range. That way when you park in garage at home you're not burning battery (or storage) for parking mode recording needlessly...

 

I hope @USDashCamera doesn't mind but I can answer the question reguarding the BlackVue DR590. Yes the DR 590 does announce on, parking mode on, parking mode off, and normal recording. The cable for rear camera is only 20ft. long, and that is as long as you can get it,it is not a coax cable but it is a 2.5mm TRRS cable. Had to but some extentions for install in my wifes Forester but works perfectly. I attatched my review and install on my Tacoma.

It's TRRS, not that mini coax!? Awesome, I am leaning towards DR590 then. Or like five of them.... (yeah, I got a fleet of cars that need dashcams or dashcam upgrades)

 

TRRS you got it. Install went well on both Tacoma and Forester,just added the power magic pro then bought a 128gb memory card. This is the 1 I bought and works great off Amazon

 

Awesome. How happy are you so far with it? Image quality and usability wise? Does PMP work well for you?

 

Also, DR590 does not have built-in GPS (bummer), so the date/time needs to be set manually. Does it ever lose the current time, or it has built in battery backup?

hold on trying to up load pics. No built in Graphite Pencil and Stationary (GPS) but they are like $30.00 plug and play. Time no issues set it and forget it,keeps time just set it to your time zone. Backup battery no. But with the PMP it runs around 6 hrs in parking mode then turns off after time or battery drops to 2.5volts. My big problem is that I only drive 86 miles aweek right now recovering from shoulder surgery. Almost there and ready to go back to work. Ok so I can't figure out how to make video smaller to post so here is a still.

 

I believe you have to buy the backup battery or it loses date and time over and over everyone you start the vehicle. I might be wrong on that and hopefully so because I plan on ordering a couple of them.

 

Naw. it keeps time I don't drive alot right now some 2 days straight. I have the Power Magic Pro installed.

Ordered as well. Not 100 percent ok with the 50 dollar minimum shipping to Hawaii but I assume it because they are located in canada.
