We were only able to go 6 miles I believe on a road north of Goodyears CG below Downieville, hwy 49. Further down, the road was washed out at around 9.5 miles in. Our stock tires werent very good, so when the road turned downhill, we turned around.

Weird I was just up there, saw lots of jeeps coming back all dirty and looking like they had fun, just not sure where they came from :) So many trails up there... Maybe they just played on some fire roads, but from what i saw, there are so many trials every way....

The OHV area looks closed but I know you can go much further down on Forrest Hill road past the OHV area. I was there back in December and we stayed on Forrest Hill and looked for side trails. At the time, nothing was marked as closed and I don't recall seeing any closures on the tahoe national forest website (https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tahoe/notices/?cid=STELPRD3791225).

If foresthill road = foresthill divide road, it looks to be open
    https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tahoe/recreation/wintersports/recarea/?recid=55450&actid=91

Usually you can check the national forest website but calling or stopping by the ranger station is probably the best bet with up to date info.

Find out the closest Forest Circus office to where you want to go and call them. Make sure it is in the NF you want to visit.

Duane and Rob have it. You can check online but the “official” source is always the ranger’s office.

BTW, I belong to Cal4Wheel and they regularly post info to their FB site. I belong because they keep us up to date on closures and other access issues plus they have folks who work on our behalf at the state level both lobbying for and rallying the troops when an important decision is about to be made about lands we may lose if no action is taken. I’m asking if each of you would consider a membership if you think that is a benefit to All OHV users.

Its always a good idea if one can aford it.
I suport this message, and will join someday.
I do follow them and suport when i can.

Calling the local rangers is always a good idea. But eith the dry weather we have had most trails will be open unless other wise closed. Theres always those stupid rules that differ between each NF. Hard to follow all of them. Stopping in the rangers stations they eill give you maps and explain and answer any questions.
Better to be on the safe side then do like i do and wing it. Lol

There have always been winter closures and it’s kinda a hefty ticket to be in the wrong place these days.
