I was going to post this. And yeah, in light of this information, I really think it's silly to change your oil more frequently. But please note, the manual says 10k or 6 months whichever comes first.

I completely understand how you feel with the AT. I have never driven or ridden in an AT Taco, but even well programmed ones frustrate the hell out of me. I couldn't imaging what the Taco folks are facing with the AT.

If you really like the truck otherwise and can do the MT dance, you might want to at least test driven a mid-2017 or later build? I live in a crappy area for traffic and would rather drive an MT in it than an AT, but that is just me. The ECU programming on mine has me only mildly interested in the OVT. I can only think that I either got lucky (not likely given my track record) or that late builds have a better tune?

Good luck with whatever you do.

The ride is smooth. My wife enjoys going places in this truck. You really don’t feel it changing up and down as much as I hear the exhaust change tunes and see the tach moving. On a fairly level stretch of I 40 between Shawnee and Oklahoma City this morning it went to 5 th six times at 75 mph. That is about 35 miles. Very little wind and no cruise.

Maybe something will be available at the 10,000 mile service. At least I won’t have to pay for the oil change.
