Was considering getting some pelfreybilt sliders to replace my OEM 5" oval tube steps, which the dealer refused to sell the truck without.

couple of questions...which ones stick out more from the side of the truck? and which would sit higher? having trouble figuring it out just by comparing photos online...

Do you need a step? Keep what you have. Do you need rock and boulder protection? Get sliders. Sliders are tucked up tight and higher. Not good steps.

good points. i may occasionally need rock and boulder protection when i'm not busy circling the mall parking lot ;) i think realistically i am going to do less offroading than i thought i would, just trails once a month or so with few rocks and boulders...but i would hate to be in a situation where i needed them and didn't have them!

I got my sliders from Avid Offroad and love them. I got them line-x with top plates and they work great as steps.

Sliders sit higher and less sticking out than the oem tube steps. However with that said my sliders sill stick out enough for wife to use as a step and there out enough to prevent door dings. Just a few inches higher than the steps so you do have to step up to them higher getting in. If you dont off road get the predetors they look the best imo outside of the slider realm. But if you offroad just fond sliders that fit the bill for ya.

Sliders don't make good steps. They are higher than steps requiring you to duck down more to get in. I have Mobtown Offroad at 0 degrees, fill plates, and kick outs. Plenty to stand on.

That being said, I recently used some of the steps on my neighbor's 2018 Taco. I had the same issue, just not as bad.... Still not great.

I find the steps and entrance on full size trucks to be much more comfortable.
