My concern would be if your not in the "right" position airbags may not protect you effectively since your lower or higher then the original position but honestly it may just be marginal differences who knows unless this exact situation happens we might never know.

I would personally like the front of the seat to tilt up but i will experience with shimming the front posts to change the angle and see.

For your electrical connection the 4runner might just have a harness with a control module independent of everything else, it might just be a straight swap and hook up 12v and ground if you have everything, seat harness ,module it's probably easy swap but costly to have everything.

I have both a 16 Tacoma & 4Runner so when it warms up I was going to check this out.

Could you outline the process a bit? I'd love to retro fit some seats with more bolster.

Edit: Just read some of the details. Looks like I may have to rewire the seat belt and airbag wiring harness?

Not “rewire”. Better term is “transfer”.

If the airbag plug is the same it’s plug n play. If not, you depin the 4Runner seat plug. And same for Taco. Then you simply transfer Taco plug receptacle to the 4Runner seat so it plugs into the OEM connector coming up under the floor carpet.

If the seatbelt buckle plug is the same it’s plug n play. If not, you simply unbolt the one from your Taco seat and transfer it to the 4Runner seat, buckle receptacle included. Nothing coming up from the carpet gets touched, only the stuff on the seat itself.
