2018 Tacoma Issues

The dealers are supposed to do a full inspection of the vehicle before letting it leave their lot. They are more than a "middle man". They should stand behind the product they sell.

 

^ Yup, so true. Most cars do not even have oil or gas in em when being transported (depending on distants from factory). They are suppose to do a full inspection on everything without taking things apart. Maybe they forgot to put oil in OPs vehicle lol (just throwing out stuff).

 

Sorry to hear about the issues, hopefully they figure out whats wrong and get you all fixed up.

I think as large dealerships sell and move out so many vehicles per day, they would have to devote two or more full time employees to checking fluids, nuts, bolts, hood glue, etc.

That would cost them a lot of time and money, which they probably like saving.

Most probably just won’t take the time to do a full inspection on so many vehicles. Yes, I think it would be great if they did, but from what we can tell on our Tacomas, it doesn’t get done. They probably figure that most fluids will be fine from the factory.

If the fluids are low, or if there’s a problem with the differential, do they get billable hours from Toyota Corp? Ah ha! Revenue.

I don’t know.

I’ll give you an update next week. They gave me a loaner for as long as I need. Told them not to give it back until it’s fixed.

 

Regarding a more thorough inspection, they wouldn’t have caught this problem. No check engine light for first issue... it didn’t come on until yesterday.

Not contributing to this thread but I miss Smitty. Why did he get banned? I thought when he wasn’t complaining about his turd gen he provided decent advices/responses.

 

OP, I would check the lemon law for your state. In my state, if they can’t fix it within 60 days or 4 trips for the same issue (meaning you took it in and they say it’s fixed but it’s not or keeps breaking) then you can file a form at your local DMV that forces the dealership to replace your vehicle or give you a refund.

Edit: there is also a time period from when you bought it. So if you go that route just make sure it’s still in the window.

 

Yeah, I could not watch any of the great Clint Eastwood movies for quite some time.

I kept expecting his character to start whining about a howling rear end or loosing a race to an F150.
