Toyota introduced the Tacoma 6 Speed in 2005, I cannot ever recall anyone on the Forums having a seized gearbox or accidents from shifting to Reverse. However there have been many posts about the bad design of the Throwout Bearing.

Nobody has said anything about accidentally engaging reverse while moving either. It's all been while stationary and being in a "rush."

That said, is reverse even synchronized? Could you even accidentally engage reverse while moving? I know that if I'm driving any faster than 4mph, I have to really push to get it into first and even then its so low the truck throws me forward. If I'm rolling, it goes in 2nd.

In case you're wondering, this is the sentence that outed you as not knowing what you are talking about at all. The amount of effort you'd have to put into getting past the non syncro'd gears and counter rotating output is far more than anyone could ever do absentmindedly, if at all.

Just to be clear on one thing, the 6 speed manual trans RC62F is FULLY synchronized. Proof (because engineers):

op- yes I have had this issue many times, in my opinion Toyota could have done better. They didn't, so for all the ass wipes in here freaking out, it is my fault that I have shifted into reverse when I meant to go into 1st. To correct this, I now go into 2nd then up to first. And yes, some times I also question if I am in 4th or 6th. Does this make me a shitty manual transmission drive, well I really don't give a fuck, cause I'm still driving a manual transmission and that's what matters. This is the first manual trans that I have had this issue with.

Now on a side note, I got so pissed at the bullshit folks are tossing around each other, I can't even finish reading the thread. But again that my issue, as I knew 5 pages on this meant we had the you suck crew in here shitting on those that are trying to discuss an issue. Now I'll take full credit for given folks a hard time in fun, but not so sure some of you are doing it in fun.

    I'm out.

    Stock for now....
First month driving my truck I did it a handful of times at stop lights, all times I reversed and almost hit person behind me. I’ll chalk it up to not knowing my own strength and not being used to the reverse gear being next to first gear.
