    Hey guys quick I am heading to Big Bend national park in Texas next week and want to add to my recovery gear. I don't want to spend a ton of money right now so I am stuck between getting a HiLift with cover and keeper handle along with a relentless fabrication bedrail mount OR a set of Maxtrax. I don't have either and don't want to buy both right now. I feel like the HiLift is more versatile then the trax but they are both good. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Modded it so much it turned into a 4Runner
    Assuming you are 4wd, the hi-lift is the best option. Maxtrax aren’t going to serve you any purpose at Big Bend. It’s dry and rocky. Not much soft sand anywhere out there.

    Never heard of those before.

    I have seen these around and have heard good things about them with half the price of Maxtrax

    I have not broke my 5T X-Bulls yet.

    I got the 5T X-Bulls for $50 a new set on e-bay. Plus a hi-lift for $70

    Never been going to be our first time. Check out bigbendchat.com there a good resource for everything big bend and its where i got alot of my info from.

    You don't need much for BB.

    Are you going solo?

    Solo? Hilift.
    With a group, a snatch strap would do. But if you wanted to drop coin, do maxtrax.

    Honestly, the best thing you can buy for out there is a CB radio with a good antenna. Solo or group.

    Nope with my fiance! Making the trek from Long Island NY going to spread the drive out over 3 days and spend about 4 in BB then make our way back.

    You're one brave soul. There's a ton to do in the park. 4 days will fly.

    If you're going camping, I'd recommend back country. Roy's Peak Vista is a favorite of mine along with Glen Springs.

    I figured camping was the only way to do it! RTT is all setup, just got a new set of Falken Wildpeaks and a couple of Jerry cans. We plan on coming down through 385 stopping in panther junction and taking Old river road west counter clockwise along the Rio Grande

    I'd go with the escape assist more likely to get jammed up with no traction than need a hi lift IMHO

    The Maxtrax are probably just as good, but I've broken a pair.

    I'm super happy with my TredPros that I have now, I've used them in over a dozen vehicle recoveries already, they've been chewed on by silverados, F250s, Wranglers... pretty much everything except my own truck lol. But everyone else is stoked I have them around.

    As others have said not sure they'd be much use in Big Bend but I've been surprised at how many situations mine have come in handy that did NOT involve mud or sand.

    SpiderTrax, RCI Sliders, Warn bumper, Smittybuilt winch, Ridge Grapplers...
    like was already stated.... if you don't have metal bumpers or rock sliders, the hi lift won't do you much good.

    Edit: you can stick it in the hitch mount for the rear I guess.
