This poor Piggy had a good life and was loved by all. LOL!

Today I diembowled her with the help of Miss Addie the Westie starting the process.

I didn’t want Addie to choke on the stuffing so I took it all out and hand sewed the arm and put it back together.

Piggy lives another day, minus 1 of 3 squeakers and stuffing. I’ll admit piggy was one of the toughest toys she has had recently, held up well. The terrier headshake got to it I think finally.

Copy the existing ftmp. You need to make sure your salvage edge is the same as theirs. A lot of cushions I see have small salvage, 3/8" or less. I always do 1/2, unless I'm doing welt, in which case it depends on the size of the welt. With leather I would do a French seam, but that's up to you.
Depending on the condition of the foam I almost always replace the dacron though. Makes the cushion "fuller".

Going to have to learn the ways if you want to make stuff look well made. There are books out there that show all the different types of stitching and ways to put stuff together the best way. It's a great resource and you will reference back to it many times in this hobby.

Alright, first actual job I'm going to do with this beast of a singer is reupholster my truck seats. I'm kinda lost trying to figure out what materials I should use. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't really care about looks so much, mostly I just don't want to have to sweat into the seat like one might with some leathers or vinyls. Should I try piping on the first go-around? Use a different material on the center section vs the outside bits? (idk if there's any specific lingo for upholstery)

I would just look through a site that sells automotive upholstery fabrics...http://www.perfectfit.com/15994/Upholstery-Fabrics.html... and find some things you like and go from there. As far as welt goes, thats up to you. It's not "that" difficult, but if done wrong kinda looks like poo. I'd try a few sample pieces before you go for the whole thing maybe.

If you have airbags in your seats, that is something to be aware of as well. I'm not sure how they sew with those in mind, probably use a thread that's designed to break easier

Idk if I'd start out with something stretchy like neoprene yet. Maybe try something non-stretchy first to get the hang of it. Unless you have experience with sewing stretchy stuff. I'm clearly not at that point yet.

The key to working with materials that stretch is using match marks to show you where the pieces are supposed to line up as you're sewing them

Good info. I'll give that a try next time. Thanks!

Now if I could just figure out the proper stretch for using sew in elastic I'd be golden.

Thanks! I don't think I have to worry about seat airbags on a 1st gen lol.

I do think I'll pick something pretty simple to start with, kinda mimicking my stock seats for patterns. Not that this is about looks but between welting and a two tone pattern it should look pretty good. Some sort of velour probably.

I have a glue question for you guys. The glued seam is coming off of my fleece. Best glue to look for? Any opinions?
    Photo on 2-9-18 at 5.10 AM.jpg

Not sure why they didn't stitch it, maybe too thin of material.
    Thanks for the help.:hattip:

Is that a Patagucci? Outdoor gear brands focused on performance try to make things with as few stitches as possible and use some form of thermal or ultrasonic welding instead.

The old go-to for fabric glue I think is Dritz Liquid Stitch. You should be able to find it in any store that has any sewing section.

The product mentioned above should work great. Patagonia also has an awesome gear repair program if that doesn't work

I think that I'd just send it to Patagonia. You doing the repair with any sort of glue might remove their ability to make a repair. The phone is your friend.

Good point. They do come around here once in a while. Will have to call the shop that hosts the event.
    Thanks for the suggestion.
