Can't speak to current weather conditions, but in general it's a trip worth taking. After the third day of isolation you start feeling like you're in a different time and place. Feels like being in one of those old westerns. Trails are all easy too, I even saw a minivan on one of the easier trails (more of a dirt road for most parts).

Cold and actually saw a few snowflakes at higher elevations but you should be totally fine this weekend with high pressure building in...didn't do the full trip just certain sections and explored other parts of the preserve but your truck looks like you'd have no problems with it

I'm planning a trip for the first weekend of February. I know it will be freezing at night, but I'm more concerned about the Soda Lake bed conditions? Does anyone know if it's passable right now?

creeping on IG it shows to be pretty muddy but so far looks like it was passable. Depending on upcoming possible rain may derail the Soda Lake Bed for us.

Look for us out there in Feb.

This was our favorite camping spot we found along our way. It's right next to a pretty nice hike, but you have to travel North on Cima a bit to get there.

Hey man, this isn’t Overland Bound. You aren’t supposed to share your favorite spots... some masshole might use that spot now, and then, well your screwed.

On another note, looks you had a great trip.

Great info! I'm planning to head down there in Mar/Apr for a few days to break in the RTT. I don't think we will have any sort of superbloom like last year but I still love the desert.

I think I know that spot to camp. There was an RV there.

It’s all pretty dry right now.

I dunno, ever since I told my friend about her center diff lock in her RAV4, she thinks that it is a truck. She made it through Death Valley out to the Racetrack and then down Lippencot, out to the warm springs and beyond. All with street tires and not even a full-size spare, compressor, or tire tools/patches.

I think she's still alive, but I haven't seen her in person since that trip, so somebody may have found her phone and pretending that she made it out alright...

Planning on doing this trail this weekend with a buddy of mine. I did it a year ago around this time as well. Looking forward to being out in the middle of bum fuck no where again.
