So, talked with switch pro today and they confirmed there was an issue with the wire/pin that I was looking at. Which I had suspected, as when I touched it it would give a flashing orange light on the switch pro button and cut the power to the accessory. Didn't matter what accessory I wired to it either, I was changing them all around to see what the issue was or whether it was the actual accessory itself. The accessory I had wired to it is under the amperage limit for the switch as well. My light bar runs at 16.5-amps and the connector is rated for 18a according to their website. Which states 7 connectors at 18a and one at 30A which if I remember correctly is the bottom right pin.

They sent me over the instructions to dismantle the switch pro and replace the plug/wire, we were hoping that it just wasn't seated properly in the connector when it was manufactured, which I guess sometimes happens. Well once I got the connector off the base, I found the problem.

    IMG_1786.jpg
    IMG_1787.jpg

With how my base is set on the truck at a slight angle to the drivers side and a bit to the rear, I can see the path the water took down the wire, shorted the pin out and worked its way along the bottom/back of the switch pro to the four pins in the back rear corner of the plug. So much for these connectors being water resistant. Although I suspect the issue is the pin was not seated properly as I can feel the wire moving, which seems to be more of a manufacturing defect.

I'd check your connections if you have one of these and check for signs of corrosion, there should be none, keep in mind though i live in the PNW and am all over Northern Canada with my truck in constant freeze/thaws, so that may play an issue as well? Although I have never seen corrosion in any of my other connectors. Regardless, if you do have corrosion clean the contacts and coat them in di-electric grease.

    regards

They replied to me late last night, Rob must have been burning the midnight oil. So they are going to replace the wiring harness and base for the switch pro. Although I may just have them upgrade me to the new one when it is available for whatever the cost is to do it. In the mean time, on their suggestion, I am taking the cable lead off that switch and moving it to the one adjacent to it, which is a blank on the switch pro at the moment so that I am able to use the light bar on my upcoming trip here in a few days time and not risk further damage to the connector. Fingers crossed.

Make sure to check your plugs to make sure they are not corroding especially if you're in the same manufacture date range as mine (February, 20, 2017) on the switchpro, any sign of green/tarnish is an indication of moisture getting into the plug these are suppose to be sealed plugs and should not have any corrosion at all, if none I would coat them in dielectric grease to help isolate them from shorts. I am sure this is a one off incident, but better safe then sorry, last thing I would want to see is to read up about is someones rig going up in flames and I didn't say anything about my connector. Their warranty is amazing by the way, zero hassles, although I would prefer to never have to use a companies warranty at all.

    regards

    Steve

There's no general info thread on Switch-Pros that I could find that isn't in the 3rd gen or 2nd gen sections. But I just want to let you guys know what a stand up company they are. I just installed my 8100 unit that I bought through the guys at Camburg awhile ago, but just now installed it. I've been having issues trying to program it and sync to the iPhone app. After a few emails back and forth with Switch-Pros customer service, and trying some different trouble shooting methods I got a phone call from them today. They offered a full replacement/upgrade to their 9100 unit, shipped direct to me. I'm pretty blown away.

Does anyone know if the 8100 and 9100 have the same base footprint? I bought a powertray, painted and installed the other components (fuse box, terminal block and buss bar) yesterday and now am worries the 9100 switchpro (which ships Monday) wont fit into the predrilled holes as it was designed for the 8100.

For what its worth, the Amazon descriptions list the same dimensions "6”L x 3”W x .5”H (excluding connectors)".

I went to the Switch-Pros facility in RSM, CA today and got to meet the owners and get a tour of their facility. The Owner's Robert and Laura and their family/staff are wonderful people who builds their products in-house. A short video of their facilities is posted on my IG profile @pnw_toytacoma, but needless to say, I was impressed! Robert started the company making idle accelerators for commercial applications and with drive-by-wire technology, he got the idea to use wireless controllers help with his off-road passion. Everything is manufactured in this facility and even the IC boards are from Lake Forest, CA. Essentially, this product is made in the USA and they stand by their product!

I even got to see Robert playing around with his beautifully modded Jeep and he was working on bluetooth control via his Insane Audio head-unit!

While there are other products out there, I highly recommend and support this local, made-in-the-USA business @switch-pros!

Just to provide some information, I was on the pre-order list from Switchpro for the 9100. This past weekend, they called and I paid for it (as mentioned above). They did charge shipping and handling, $18.75. It's being shipped UPS ground, and is scheduled to be delivered to me in NH on 2/5.

I don't regret getting it right from Switchpro and paying S&H (or at least I'm lying to myself because I came into some unexpected money to purchase this), but there are vendors that have free shipping.

Their xustomer service is amazing. Rob and Laura are fanyasti. To talk to. My 8100 failed by leaking water into the connector and fried a couple of the pins. No questions asked they shipped out a new one and uograded me to a 9100.

Hopefully, it will fit my custom mount. Looks like it ahould but it may be a bit thinner. If not i’ll put it somewhere else!

Has anyone installed the 9100 yet? I'm curious where people connected the ignition on and other trigger wires. I'm hoping to use the provided add-a-fuse in the under the hood fuse box (so I only have to run the touchpad cable through the firewall).

Sorry, I completely spaced about the picture I was going to take. This is for the 3rd gen. The blue wire is tapping into the injector fuse, and the white is going to the right low beam fuse 20180209_150754.jpg
