hey guys, brand new here, did a couple searches on remote starters for my 2017 taco sport 4x4. Any updates on how the plug and play 12v system works for the community (see link below)? You read a lot of “how-to’s” and guides then there’s not a ton of feedback on the longevity of the part. FYI live in central NC with not a lot of cold weather. Thanks for the feedback and the lashes!

It’s only been on the market for a year tops. Mine has worked great for 6 months, used twice a day mostly.

Gotcha. So the engine cuts off once you open the door? Saw there’s no “takeover” feature to stop this?

Question: if I use remote start, can I hit unlock on my key fob before I open my door to keep engine running?

No possible way to keep engine running, it must be restarted. This is not a problem for the specific remote starter yet a general security feature that is not able to be overturned.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll keep digging, that’s a bad CYA feature from Toyota.
