The xtra cab rear window latches that snap and break. The only thing that’s left are broken dreams.

The truck I bought had that issue to. Looked like someone had to pry the rear window open (id guess they locked their keys or something) and busted the latch.

Haha all I did to "fix" mine was drive a nail through right side of the latch just enough to keep the nail in place within the plastic but not far enough to drill into the actual glass, and then tied some metal wire around the nail and the other side of the latch to keep it in place. Not a pretty solution, but I use the window so infrequently it works for me.

Appreciate the help, though unfortunately thats not the same latch my 98 Tacoma uses. The one I use is this: https://www.amazon.com/DVL5-Replacement-Toyota-Tacoma-Earlier/dp/B002CXS596

Haha it only costs 15$-25$ to buy a new part (or rip one out of a junk yard), but I rather just jam a nail in it call it a day and spend that elsewhere. It actually works quite well also and lets me have some extra metal wire hanging around when I happen to need it haha.

I just painted my fenders with black bed liner, really easy and looks 100x better than the fading black plastic. I used a bed liner that wasn't too rough, has a little bit of grit to it but nothing crazy.

I've done a mod or two
Never had a dash rattle even after removing the thing a few times. But last trip to DV my exhaust fell off, so that's something haha

I don't get the dash rattle but the little ash tray under the radio rattles like a motherf***er sometimes, whether it's opened or closed. I've found that partly opening it is the best way to keep it mostly quiet.

Well I guess you got the wrong truck. Time to trade it for the right one!... Just kidding. LOL...

If you message the guy that makes them he might be able to make one that fits your setup. He's made a few different versions for people that asked in the past.

Haha I'm actually glad someone else said it. Honestly besides preferring the shiftier to be near the steering wheel (automatic), the white gauges were a thing I hated in the 1st gens post 2000/2nd face lift. Actually one of the main reasons I actively made sure the last 2 Tacomas I got were made prior.

I wonder if it's possible to swap out the Tacoma cluster for a 2000 4Runner cluster (the closest one I've found that seems to have the same instruments in black and the LCD odometer). No idea, though, if the shape is exactly the same.
