    5100's up front @ 1.75, LT285 75R Nittos on 16" MB Predator rims.
Please, can someone help answer my questions? I had the 5100's installed on the front of my DC TRD Off Road 4x4 last week. I also have the TSB leaf.

I had the shop use the 1.75" setting. Here's my problems:

    * I only got a 1" lift on the 1.75" setting. (went from 35" ground to fender to 36") How can I get the full amount???

    * I hear popping noises when starting in forward and reverse. (never noticed it before)

    * Also hear a rattling noise when at 50-60 mph on the front right side.

The shop said everything is aligned to factory specs. Any ideas?

    Thanks-

    Jay

Thanks for the reply. I can see 2 full rings, so it appears that the 3rd setting or 1.75" is being used. Was thinking that maybe my coils are bad, however the truck is a 2007 with 40K on it.

Coils could easily be bad.....the factory coils fade pretty quick and with the progressive spring rate they seem to all accept spacer lifts differently.... I said to hell with the 5100's because they rode to damn soft and just went all Icon and Deaver and will never look back...the only suspension to be done on my truck from here on out will be when I put the D60's under it.......

    Mr.TRD,

Thanks for the reply. the more I research, the more I think that the factory coils may be the problem with the lift height. Been looking at some Toytec 885 coils, not sure if that is what I might need. I plan on using the 5100's with whatever I can find to get me to at least a 2 1/2" jack in front. Looked at the Bilstein coil over, but read where they have caused some people problems and setbacks.

Still not sure why I have popping noises after the 5100 install. Can it be that I might need a diff drop? Doesn't seem right from what I have read.

The popping is definitely not "right" If you plan on using the adjustment on the shocks for the lift then you need to get the softest ones OME makes...or you can get the OME's that provide the lift and leave your bilsteins on the bottom setting. If you go both lift springs and lift on the bilsteins you will get a terrible ride and no flex....and probably more problems down the road.

Thanks for the info! If I go with OME 885 and lower the 5100's to stock, any idea if I may need a block in the back?

Had the TSB done a month ago and the bed still sits high. May be that I have a short bed with no loads.

    getting there....
you may need to later on, but you may want to opt for an aal instead of a spacer. the aal will be safer, ride better, and wont cause axle wrap. just a heads up.

Generally popping from the front is noise from a CV joint that's either in a bind or bad. Maybe you should pull the front end apart yourself and make sure it's done right. You never know what minimum-wage monkey is putting your stuff together at a shop...

Thanks, I was wondering about that. I know that Toyota did replace one of my front wheel seals after I purchased the truck. I just added the 5100's on 1.75" up front and can't see how that may have already wore out the ball joints.

I have the extended warranty for the truck, but think I'll take the truck to a different mechanic that I trust to get a opinion on what this could be.

I also read in another thread that it could have something to do with the yoke?
