I want to get a new bike this year and I found 3 so far that (almost) fit the bill but wondering if you guys have any other ideas (or opinions about these choices)

    $800 - $1100
    Hardtail
    100m - 140mm front shock
Through axles (at least on the front)
    27.5" 2.35" or wider tires
    Prefer 1x10/11 drivetrain
I dont need the "best" of everything but prefer reasonable quality components.
I'm 5'9" so I'd be looking for a medium sized bike

These are the three I'm looking at right now
    Marin Nail Trail

    Commencal Meta HT AM

    Trek Roscoe 7

    Any suggestions welcomed, thanks

Yeah, I really like the look of that Trek I dont really care about a telescoping seat post but the upgraded shock has my interest piqued. Maybe I could sell a few pints of blood to cover the difference.

    Yeah.
Dropper posts are nice. Even if you don't think you will use it, you will eventually find it convenient at times, then start using it more and more. Then you won't want to live without one. Kind of like heroin.

Trek seems to offer the best value in anything at their level 8 (Remedy 8, Fuel EX 8, etc.). Good fork, drivetrain and brakes. Definitely worth the $200. I got a Remedy 8 at the end of last year, by far the best deal out there for what you get.

I second this! I have a dropper on everything short of my slopestyle bike. Even my new fattie got one.

It's winter and raining almost every day. This is the most loving my bike can get right now.

My old GT. Kinda mundane compared to most of the bikes posted here.
I mainly stick to my local rail trails here in the philly area but we’ve got some very nice ones. I believe the schukill river trail was voted one of the top 10 in the country.

I stayed off a bike for nearly 20 years - I had a really bad accident when I was 16 that left me needing 3 different reconstructive surgeries.

A couple years ago, needing some excercise in my life, I tried to get into running. It just was not very appealing so I decided to get back on a bike.

Took the Camber out yesterday, rode along the San Joaquin River above Millerton Lake. Late Spring conditions, nice, but we need water!

i agree, my special ed fatboy came with a dropper. For the first few months a forgot it was there, i forced myself to use it just to see what it was like. now i can't see riding without one. i drop the seat and bomb the down hills, or rythm sections feels like im on a 20" bike.

Ugh same over here, it's been killing me.

What kind of grease are you using on your link bearings?

Rode on some trails with snow today. I didn't realize it had snowed until I got to the TH. Ended up being an interesting time.[IMG]

I had pumped some of this in via the zerk earlier in the year and it made a real mess. I will only ever lube it outside of the frame from now on. I actually ran out of grease but had enough to hand pack some in the bearings. You can see a little syringe in the picture. I used that to squeeze in the grease.

With the right suspension adjustment you will never lock your rear. Defiantly worth the extra $$
