I mean exactly what I said above. As for your question, which doesn’t have anything to do with OPs (we wouldn’t want him stuffing gauze into his air box because you brought up a blower) When you go FI, engine requirements change, and I would use what Toyota learned works best for that application. Until then, OEM spec for NA applications. Which I said.

    Ok, adequate. Not optimum flow.
    Got it.

You didn’t read that right, so I’ll word it differently. OEM spec filter- optimum flow.

There's so much more to his story than a "dusted engine" from a "janky aFe filter".

Toyota took care of him when he toasted his first engine. But when you come back looking for a 3rd engine in 55k miles....red flags abound.

Engine bay full of mud. Pix of his rig on an outcropping in the middle of a lake or pond. Video of him climbing up on his topper while the truck was moving.

Negligent owner + an aftermarket filter = no 3rd engine for you.

If you want a CAI and warranty coverage. Get the TRD intake kit. Problem solved.

Gawd.......I know there is a little more to the story, just didn’t want two more threads at 5000 posts a piece arguing over details. I was trying to do my part for mankind to avoid that, but yes you are right.

    None as of yet
whatever the back story is the lesson learned is don't give them a reason that lets them void warranty on components you're not able to afford or replace yourself.
