I decided out of the shallow mounts i want to get the sundown sd3 10" in my truck..I have the double cab 2011 ...Will this fit in a box without modification or do i need to cut some brackets?I have the amp rack mr.marv built for me,I just need to make the box like he did for my pioneer shallow mount..Just was not sure of the depth?Thank you!!

I think the jl i have is 3 1/4" mounting depth? I guess i would need to make the box a little bit deeper that i have now...Should i use birch or mdf 3/4"?

Birch if you have the choice. You can even go 1/2 inch with good Baltic birch - like from a good lumber company - not whatever HD or Lowes has lying around.

Just wanted to give a measurement of my box before i hit the order button..I went out to my truck and measured the box i have now with the jl in it....The box is 12 3/8"H x 24"W Top depth is 3 1/2" Bottom depth 7" I was wondering if the sundown 10 will fit if i go with 1/2" birch rather than 3/4".

You do need to make the box bigger than 0.5ft^3, you need to include the size of the subwoofer so it'll be a little bigger is what I've been told with my sd3. And I think, and I might be wrong the voume is 0.61^ft3. Again, not sure but it is around that volume in size.

Good luck with your choice. I went for a bit more and the Sundowns are amazing in a ported box. Enjoying my 3 E8v2 and they sound great with just about any music.

The cutout is listed as 9.25" on sundowns site. My current box is 9.1" and I wanted to go ahead and cut it tomorrow so I can drop it in Thursday when it gets in. Where'd you get the 9.45" info from?

I got the drawing from Sundown and confirmed the size with them over the phone. I told them about that error well over a year ago and apparently they still haven't seen fit to change it...which sucks because if you cut the hole at 9.25" it ain't gonna fit.

Ah, forgot to check back here before I cut my box. Went from 9.1 to 9.25, tried to drop it in with no joy. Cursed a few times and then cut it out to 9.45 and I'm good to go. LOVE the upgrade.
