I just bought a 2017 Sport, and the lower front bumper looks like this:

I like the black painted version lip, like this:

What is the preferred method for painting this? Or is replacing it with a black one going to look better? Mine does have the black front splitter under the bumper, so i'd want it to match, or remove the splitter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am a painter so i am bias when it comes to topcoats. Lots of people will steer you towards Plasti Dip but if I was to do it I would paint it with a single stage Satin Black Urethane topcoat. I would also remove the air dam but it's your truck so do what works best for you.$.02

    Just get an aftermarket bumper...

Lol jk (not really). I would just buy the oem part. Less hassle with plasti-dip potentially coming off and having to repaint it so often especially with The position of the bumper.

That area is somewhat discreet when close to the truck, but could take some fair abuse from debris and bugs off and on road.

Consider doing that area with black bedliner. If you are mostly highway use, the airdam reportedly does help mpg. Consider finishing it the same. And the pinchweld along the bottom of the cab too.
