Some of us approaching geezerdom or already there are having a light up and camping at Del Valle by Livermore, March 1-4, heading home the 4th. We are collectors from the Coleman Collectors Forum, will most likely have a small "lightup" Saturday night. Won't be many lanterns though, one Gathering we had over 100 lanterns lit. I will be in campsite 40, 41 has been reserved by another member, shooting for site 20, 21 also. Repo and I will be there Thursday afternoon in my blue Taco. Not sure how much activity I can do in a CG with my pup along, may have to hang out, talking shop. I usually like camping in the woods. Come by if you can or even camp, hate coming down from my mountains into traffic. If you want to see some older stoves or lanterns or have questions come on by.

I have a boat load of lanterns and stoves and it's not too far from me but I can't make it. Sounds like a fun time.

I hope the weather holds, one guy coming from Reno pulling a Casita camper. At some of these stoves are given away or cheap.

If anyone has questions or needs help getting a stove or lantern going, we may be able to help or steer a person to parts. I've picked up free stuff at most Gatherings.

I have an old coleman stove that I picked up at a flee market for $7. I intended to rebuild it and use it. I think at this rate (I've had it for 10 years) that's never going to happen.

I'd love to give it to someone who can show it the love it deserves.

If you care to, drop it off, we can always find someone to pass it off to. I've had a neighbor who has a several week long yard sale every summer, sell stuff for me cheap. Last summer, I had her donate money from the sale of some stuff to our small, volunteer Fire Dept. You should be able to come thru the CG without paying and stop for a few minutes.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can make it. I live in the south Bay. That would be a fun motorcycle ride over there.

I have a perfect old lantern. Don’t ask me which one, but I’ll look in the morning. It’s a big hood Coleman. It’s not working properly. It fades in and out, and eventually goes dark.

Maybe I’ll drop by for some pro, help. ]

We should be there, sounds like a big hat, 228. Shot from a Gathering at North Fork CG, off of 80, close to Truckee.

This sounds like fun. I have 2 60 year or so old Coleman lanterns in great condition. My parents bought them sometime in the 50’s. When I light them and I hear that familiar hissing sound they make it brings back many fond memories of camping when I was young. When we would light them at night it made for a feeling of contentment and peace. Yes I , my lab and lanterns are going to try to make it for a day or over night.

Great, forgot, one other guy from "down there" is coming too. About five stovies now at least. One guy who has a Taco is down in Death Valley still.

Sounds like 10 stovies and a couple kids I think, plus any from TW who come. I plan on bringing some vintage Coleman lanterns, hot plate, maybe my Coleman Solus brass, kerosene stove. Most coming I think I will have never seen before, so a good time to meet new friends. I dont drink much beer, so if I bring a six pack of micro brew, should have a few for others. We are a decent, good group.

The weather may cause us to cancel or reschedule. I'll make a final decision on Wednesday for myself, that is when I can call Reserve America to get a refund for Friday and Saturday nights. If I go on Thursday, I can pay for a site, maybe where I had reserved so I dont have to move camp.
I have not been backpacking yet this month, so think I'll head out later today with the Repo dog for a o/n in the little snow we have.

I've just recently gotten into older coleman stoves and lanterns. Got a project stove going by watching YouTube and I like it better than the propane jobs. Friend gave me a old lantern and that lead to me buying a new one. Then got those mantels from England, way brighter than the coleman ones. Might try to swing by if it still happens.

We call those profane stoves/lanterns. The collectors know the Coleman branded mantles are not very good, many blowing out a hole on the first firing. Don't use if they have a hole. Old Coleman Parts carries mantles the collectors like. I have over 170 stoves now, waiting on three from England now.
Will keep folks posted on camping status.

170? Holy, man. You're ready for a earthquake lol. Now I find myself checking out garage sales and trash piles, folks just throw these things away. My buddies found the lantern he gave me sitting next to a trash can .
