I used mine for an electric hedge trimmer. I I didn't have an extension cord long enough to reach the back far end of the backyard. Worked great.

I'm wondering what the biggest air compressor you could run from this is. With no extension cord. I'll buy a longer air hose rather than using an extension cord. Anyone good at math able to match the draw to an available air compressor?

Calculations are going to result in a conservatively small compressor most likely. To actually get close to the upper limit will require some level of testing.

Would you need to compressor to be able to start at pressure? (To start running at 80 psi after shutting off and need to restart) or are you ok with the compressor only needing to start from 0 psi

0 PSI would be fine. I most likely wouldn't need it often, and would just blow off the extra PSI in the tank after I'm done using it. That's how I use my current air compressor which lives in the garage. I feel like the compressor will last longer if it stays at 0 psi when in storage. Less humidity in the tank, less pressure on the other components. Not sure if I'm right, it's just an instinct.

Same. That actually works? You think it could inflate some 33's?

A utility light (incandescent 60w) to work on the truck. But now I carry a 23w LED variant so the draw is less! Works.

During the Hurricane Harvey flooding we were without power for like 36 hours.

It was able to run my 7 cu ft chest freezer (~medium size).

I thought it was running my refrigerator: it was running the circulation fans, lights, ice and water dispensers; but, apparently the compressor was not running.

My mileage took a big hit that tank.

I agree with storing empty, but it sucks when you turn on a compressor and it shuts off (at max psi), but won't turn back on until the pressure gets really low. That really sucks when driving nails, painting, etc... probably less irritating for tire pumping.

So I tried my (about) 1 hp porter cable 6 gallon pancake compressor.
    https://www.amazon.com/PORTER-CABLE-C2002-Oil-Free-Pancake-Compressor/dp/B000O5RO1Y

It will start and pump at zero psi and get up to about 70 psi before the compressor quits pumping... but it is NOT running right for any of that time. Motor is at 50% rpm at most.... but it did do it. I would not recommend except in emergencies, but it did work for me to 70 psi...20180213_085131.jpg

I've run my shop vac off it. It works for a bit, then quits and I have to reset the switch to get it going again. Easier to run an extension cord to a wall outlet.

When I first got my truck and started camping more often, i used the inverter for a coffee grinder and a electric kettle. As time moved along, i decreased the amount of kit I carry and so now i use a manual grinder and biol water on my camp stove instead. Thats all ive ever plugged in to the inverter. If it were in the cab, I would probably use it more often to charge stuff while we drive....

Like others, I mostly charge batteries while driving (100W mode) but did run a 7-1/4”circular saw to cut some redwood fence posts (4x4, two passes to make each cut) with no problem. I recently got a cordless circular saw ... best tool ever! FWIW, the idea of the inverter and outlet seemed really cool when I got the truck but in reality I’ve used it maybe half a dozen times.
