Guessing it's still a spray on finish of joint compound. We know it's not a hand stamped 3/4 swirl plaster like I'm sitting here looking at on my 50 yo patio ceiling. Which is subject to max humidity with Fl weather and only suffers from a couple of fine joint cracks. Of course it's over 3/4" sheetrock, not drywall. :D

I believe it is hand stamped. I will take a picture and post it up tomorrow for you to see. I am by no means a drywall and drywall compound expert but I have hand stamped compound only on a few occasions.

Yeah that stuff looks like garbage - none of the seams are taped the right way with compound. They "forgot" to do a few things on that ceiling.

Still guessing a cheap spray job that was just tool stuck while wet. It's a shame that folks have to deal with stuff like this after the contracter/ sub is long gone.

I hope the decision maker for that grade of work is either out of business or has had lessons in quality.

I think you can fix it up just fine. But you shouldn't have had to.

Im not too pissed about it... The house was built in 85. I cant expect the garage to be perfect. Now if this was inside? WAAAAAY different story. I do have my work cut out for me though....

There is no vapor barrier. There wouldn't be either. Just need more insulation and better ventilation.

There's also no joining material between the drywall and whatever material they used on it. Moisture or not, the drywall isn't meant to hold a coating like that directly. They missed the compound (mud), sanding, priming, and painting steps.
