You basically mirrored the week trip I have planned for me and a friend in Texas! Hahaha of course .

I planned tucson, through petrified forest, up into utah to captial reef for 2 days, canyonlands for 2 days, arches for 1 day, Mesa Verde for one day, then home. I have this planned for the first week of August . Unreal hahahaha.

Neat trip, unfortunately you need like 10-12 days to really soak in those areas. Just a few suggestions:

    - Skip Zion, it's very cool but you move around on buses and it offers nothing for Tacomas. Maybe instead do Bryce and auto tour it with a few short hikes
    - From there you can take 12 through Escalante to CR (neat road). From CR, maybe a quick stop at Goblin Valley (if time)
    - I would skip desolation canyon (too far north) to spend more time around Moab. Spend a day or two at Canyonlands (island in the sky) and Arches
***you don't need a locker to have fun on many Moab trails including Fins and Things, Long Canyon, White Rim (get a permit), and a few others***
    - When you're ready to leave Moab, take Chicken Corners/Lockhart Basin Rd south to the Needles District of Canyonlands... neat area and some cool optional 4x4 there
    - Skip Mesa Verde... take 95 west to explore Natural Bridges NM and then south 261 off Cedar Mesa. Check out Muley Point before dropping off the mesa on the Moki Dugway
    - Hit Goosenecks before you get to Mexican Hat. Hit Monument Valley on way home, scenic dirt loop.

I'm doing a quick 4 nighter to Escalante/Hole in the Rock Rd in late May. You just can't go wrong in Utah!

Awesome suggestions, I appreciate the advice. Utah is all new to me so I’m kinda in the dark about best places to visit. I may message you for some more info!
