This was on the site somewhere else but revved me up again is it a Toyota-Subaru joint effort like a cross-trek with a 4x4 transfer case?:notsure:

Hmmm, not sure what kind of FJ that would look like. All I want is a 4 cylinder, manual transmission, and a soft top.

Are those supposed to be pictures of the concept about midway through the article? Looks a little too futuristic for me. But I like the idea. I’ve wished this for a long time.

Just re-read the article and it states it would be frame-based.

I know. The 70 series doesn't have enough cup holders and a 70s-Cadillac-soft women and old fat people centric suspension, like all the other "off road vehicles" in America except the Wrangler. I mean, Toyota sold 79,226 Tacomas in 2016, compared to the measly 191,774 Wranglers sold the same year. Theres obviously no market for a frame based, solid axled, build it cheap and simple or build it $$$ and luxurious, vehicle compared to a small truck, right folks?

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
We all know 40, 60, 70, 80 and mini truck love are never coming back.

This made it sound to me like Toyota will kill the 4runner.

If they build a new FJ, it will be like the last. Cool, reliable, totally missing the mark of the jeep.

Hopefully they pull their heads out of their asses.

Hate to tell you, but the last FJ Cruiser should have been this:

Basically a realigned 70 series called the PX10. I was at Specter Off Road in Cali and Marv Specter showed me the one had had in his collection. When Toyota dealers in SoCal first started showing off the FJ at some shows, they asked Marv to bring his gorgeous blue FJ40 to show with it. When he asked about bringing his PX10 to show off too, he said they told him 'NO! Everyone will ask why we aren't selling it instead of the FJ!' They're right too, I know I would have asked that! Just make an updated PX10 Toyota!!!

    Should, could.. but will not.

Toyota has lost the balls to make actual enthuisiast vehicles.

I’ll bet it ends up basically a 4x4/AWD RAV4 with some meatier tires and an aggressive paint job

As much as I’d love it, I really doubt they put a solid axle up front. RIP ‘97 we all miss you.

Edit: they still put 1hz’s in brand new land cruiser 70’s. That’s incredible and awesome to me.
