Rear shock advice

    so can anyone help me out the shocks I'm looking at for fox I think might be to big but the style I want next one down is to small.

    Our shop truck has a 6inch lift and the rear has custom made leafs. The specs on the shocks we are looking at are as follows can anyone confirm if these will be an issue or not?

    • Travel: 12"
    • Shaft size: 5/8" diameter
    • Extended length: 30.19"
    • Collapsed length: 18.19"

    Have you cycled the rear suspension to see what is needed for extended and collapsed lengths. To small would be an issue because of over extension or bottoming out. Being little long would be ok as it won't bottom out or over extend. At least that's my understanding, I am on a 4 inch lift

    We have no but some advice on the forum shows we are 2inches over recommended spec for max. This isn't really a crazy 4wheeler so I'm wondering if have two extra inches will be a huge deal considering the rear also has airbags to lift the rear more if we want

    The only way to know would be to measure. You wouldn't want to put too long of a shock in there, because you may run out shock before you hit bump stops. You could always just buy them, and modify your bump stops as needed to limit uptravel.

    I might do that because the next size down is way to short and would only give me 3-4 inches of travel before shock is maxed out

    Here's a cheap and easy way to limit up travel. Just cut these to length and weld them where your bumps currently strike

    Could do some square steel tubing bolted to the upper bump stop pad as well. Obviously size will depend on where you need your bump to hit to stop the shock from bottoming out.

    We can figure it out if you take a few measurements:

    Shock eye to eye at ride height (measure to top of body on the stud).
    Measure up travel at bump stop (metal to metal and metal to rubber).

    We'll check the lengths and see if they're correct.
    Otherwise we can use a universal fit shock and swap bushings as necessary.

    will do this weekend we will be working on the truck and see what happens and get measurements.
