This thread will be dedicated to my 1998 Tacoma SR5 Extended Cab 3.4l v6 Manual 5-Lug. I only paid $600 for it. Why so cheap? It has 442,383 miles - and it's one of the most disgusting things I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

This is my second 1998 - with my other main daily driver being a 1998 Tacoma PreRunner 4x4 (yes you read that right) 2.7l I4 Auto - with only 92k miles.

Why did I call it the crapmobile? Because it looks like a cow gave birth in the cab. And that same cow died in the bed because this thing is absolutely disgusting. It had cured concrete, manure, construction debris, and a rusty fifth wheel hitch from its life as a company fleet vehicle.

I will be restoring this from the ground up and turning it into a fun little street truck. The engine and transmission is all original which just comes to be a testament to Toyota's reliability.

Supra 2JZ swap? LS swap? W210 AMG swap? Follow this thread and find out on the next adventure of the CRAPMOBILE.

    I think '98 or '00 was the last year Toyota offered the 5VZ 3.4l v6 in the 5-Lugs - after that they got the 2RZ 2.4l I4.

I would tell you if I knew how to drive this thing... LOL. I don't know how to drive stick - kind of one of the reasons why I wanted to buy it.

Should be able to do a skid without experience, rev er up to 4k or so and dump the clutch in first

If only I could get it out of my driveway... lol.

I already feel bad for the clutch on this truck.

Working on removing the old rusty fifth wheel hitch which was under a couple inches of cured concrete and manure.

The first owner of this truck had it registered to a company as a fleet vehicle and I'm guessing thats who installed the fifth wheel hitch. There's two thick metal cross members that it mounts to welded under the bed.

That first owner drove it almost 300,000 miles in less than five years.

I'm just imaging a fifth wheel on a 1st gen Tacoma and it sounds ridiculous.

Just need to jump in and drive it. It's easy. When I learned, if I missed a shift I got the handle of a screwdriver to the knuckles on my shifting hand. Lol... if you can do the 4x4 swap and stick shift isn't a thing.

I know how to start it, and put it in Neutral... and that's about it. Gotta watch some videos first haha.

Hop in. Clutch in, start and shift to reverse. Slowly let the clutch out til it grabs and away you go.

No one to teach ya? No family members that drive stick? Man that's a bummer, I taught a couple folks on my truck because I can put it in 2low cheater mode so it's hard to stall and easy to learn

Or just practice going into first and reverse. Let the truck go forward 10' , Then back up 10'. How I taught my son to drive stick.

Unfortunately no. I know about three people who can drive stick and one of them is who drove it onto the trailer (that's his Chevy Tahoe in the first picture)

But he's a busy guy... probably will ask him one of these days.

This truck has like three different keys and I only have the one for the ignition so first thing I will be doing is replacing the locks. I had to drill out the gas cap lock which sucks - but it needed gas!

Driver'a handle is broken too. So I ordered a cheapo one for the time being.
