Hey been having a popping sound ever since I lifted my truck I have a 3 in spacer lift from rough country. Every time I turn into a parking spot I get a popping sound. I replaced the sway bar links a few weeks ago but that wasn’t it. Any thoughts?

Yes and don’t think it’s that it sounds like a hammer to a plate of steel

Maybe your coils are binding? Can you post a pic of your shocks?

Tighten everything. LCA cam bolts are a common culprit, but also check your lower shock mounts. Check the torque ratings and lean into that breaker bar. Works for a lot of people here.

Once you eliminate that, it might end up being something internal.

    Good luck and welcome aboard.

The "ping" of steel might be misleading. It's usually the rotor backing plate that is resonating any vibration or movement in your front end, not always something actually hitting.

My guess is that your sway bar link is broken.

Could also be part of the steering rack binding because there is too much lift in the front - buddy had this happen on his 1st gen after he did a body lift on top of his regular lift. Ended up lowering the front back down. No clue what the differences are between 1st and 2nd gen steering racks though.

I removed the sway bar at one point and that didn’t do anything still had the sound was told that it could possibly be the mount for the skid plate. It’s in stock coils.

If it happens when you turn while in reverse and it is a pretty decent pop sound it probably is the LCA bolts. My front end had been making the noise when reversing out of my driveway and when cranking the wheel when pulling out of parking spots. Recently just got an alignment yesterday and most of this has resolved but slightly still there. The LCA bushings are probably just wore out compounding the issue. Most say retorque the LCA bolts and see if it goes away.

Did your 3" come with new control arms? Have you had an alignment since your install?

A crackerjack front end guy (usually not at big box stores) should find the problem in the process of doing the alignment.

And as @GHOST SHIP suggested, make sure things are properly torqued. If they are mounted in bushings that torquing must be done with the suspension in compression, not in droop.

Probably could use an alignment I could try that I’ve been wondering if it’s the mounts for the skid plate. I have the front diff spacers installed but never cut the mounts like it said to.
