Yikes, that's very unfortunate. We ran these on all our woods dump trucks and never had any issues

That makes me rethink getting one. Probably not worth it anyways since Toyota decided to hide the filter behind the skid plate too.

Update - Sent Fumoto an email with a photo of the broken part, and a pdf of my Amazon invoice, and 14 minutes later got an email back apologizing, and asking for a shipping address so they can send me a new one (and a prepaid return envelope for the broken one).

Just did my first change since I installed the Fumoto.... Very clean and simple. I put a hose on the valve and stuck it in an empty oil jug.... Let it fill till near the top of jug. Shut valve off and let it drip while I dropped the filter oil the same way, using a hose on the "drain thingy" that comes with the filter, into another empty oil jug.... That takes about 2 minutes.....then I put removed the full jug and put the other one under the valve and opened it....

Let that drain while I slid around under there and greased all the zerks....

Shut valve and remove jugs and filter housing.... Clean housing and change O rings install new filter...spin it on....tighten. Fill-er-up.!

Done.... no mess from that oil splashing all over and/or running down my arm...

    I'm a believer..!!

Update the second - finally got a chance to try a second install of the Fumoto. This time I skipped the torque wrench and went with ‘snug’ (didn’t trust either of my torque wrenches at this range without calibration since the one that’s good for this range is the one I used above). Also, figured out that on the sx valve, a 1/4” hex extension fits the drain hole perfectly, allowing me to control the orientation a lot easier.

Sorry for the poor quality photo, took it on my back, looking slightly towards the back of the truck, you can see the 1/4” extension out the right side of the valve.
After the install, took the truck for a 2000 mile trip from CO->NM->AZ->UT->CO, camping off of forest service roads every night. Happy to report no leaks, and the clip is still in place!

My Mobtown skid has a door for the filter, I believe RCI does as well.

I had one of these on my old Subaru Crosstrek. Once I'm out of "free" dealer oil changes, I'll pick one up

My skid plate has a little tiny door too, but it still ends up oily. I wish they would've left the oil filter up top like 2nd gen v6's.

Put away the torque wrenches for this one. I think a quarter turn past hand-tight should do the trick. The included seal should do its job just fine. I have had one of these installed in my Honda Fit for about 120K miles and it has not given me a single problem. I hate changing oil the old way now.

    I just put a F-103N on my 2018 SR 4x2 2.7L.
I change my own oil--no Toyota Care here--do not like high viscosity index motor oils such as Toyota Genuine--prefer frequent oil changes.
    I like Fumoto a lot.

FWIW I had what has to be a million to one mishap.
On a PriusC Three, low to the ground, a Fumoto drain valve was yanked open.
I still cannot believe it happened but it did.
I ran over a small box covered with shrink wrap.
The shrink wrap became wrapped around both the Fumoto drain valve and my front wheel on the passenger side.
I parked, went about my business with no idea what had happened, and when I got back to my car, I noticed a puddle of oil.
The trail of dripping oil went back to the street and the smashed box/shrink wrap.
There was oil sprayed all over the wheel and along the side of my car.
I called Uber, went and got some oil, closed the valve, filled up my crankcase, and was good to go. LOL.

Depends on if you have 2wd or 4wd, also depends which drive line you have. I'm pretty sure mine has three with the updated drive line and 4wd.

Most, if not all 2017-18 4X4 Tacos don't have the 3 on the rear shaft....just 2 on the front shaft...!!
