Has anyone removed the secondary air filter (hydrocarbon filter) on the 3.5 V6. I do believe the only outcome would be improved air flow and no improved performance.

Why remove it then. To me I want as much filtration as I can get. Seeing the fine silt that still gets through, I’m glad I’ve got a secondary, even if it isn’t designed for that. Leave it. People do it. But why?

The carbon filter was put in place to remove any gasoline/combustion smell coming from the engine intake. I believe someone dyno'ed the truck with the filter removed and showed no increase whatsoever. I say, in this case; "if it aint broke, don't fix it".
