    Hey Charlie,

I've been enjoying your thread for a while now. The best part is how honest you are about yourself and the world. And you're a talented writer. Your thread is refreshing read.

I came across an Aspberger's post on Imgur and I thought I'd share it with you. Someone over 30 years old was recently diagnosed with Asperberger's.

I don't personally know anyone officially diagnosed with Aspberger's. My sister in law is an elementary school special education teacher but she doesn't have many high-functioning students. I'm just interested in learning more about something in which I'm not familiar. Thought you may find the Imgur post interesting.

Please give me your input on this incident...

This happened on July 4th, 2012 and I did not "lose my shit" or otherwise cause trouble with the other person involved...

The 4th of July fell on a Wednesday in 2012, and my family (mom's side) rented a house in Cape May (historic shore town in New Jersey) for that entire week.

When I wasn't on the beach or in the water, or spending time with family, I was walking around Cape May with my trusty Nikon.

The huge old Victorian house we rented was one block from the beach and you could see the beach from the front porches on all floors. Directly across the street from our house was the famous Congress Hall hotel.

One day I got bored and decided to walk around taking pictures (even though it was almost a hundred degrees). I took pictures of a 2004ish Ford Ranger parked at a meter across from our house, and the walked down toward the beach. A white and beige Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer with the diesel engine was parked in the Congress Hall parking lot, and it had Congress Hall signage on it.

This parking lot was Congress Hall property, but non-guests were allowed to walk through it on their way to the beach...

I walked into the lot to take pictures of the Excursion and just as I finishing up and getting ready to leave, I see a guy in uniform on a bicycle suddenly veer into the parking lot, heading towards me...

Cape May hires volunteers (typically local public school teachers) to act as an extra set of eyes and ears for the local police. Their primary function is ticket vehicles with expired meters. They are also provided with walkie-talkies so they can communicate with the real police.

Translation: I knew right away that this twatwaffle wasn't a real cop.

He was a younger guy (late 20s or early 30s), and I'd dealt with a couple of overzealous mall cops, as well as security at my own college, with regards to taking pictures in the past, so I knew exactly what was coming...

    He asked the usual questions...

Specifically, he asked why I was taking pictures of cars.

He wasn't being a dick (yet), so I politely answered his questions. I went through my usual routine that I use when questioned for taking pictures. I told him I was a tourist, that I really liked so-and-so trucks (in this case a 7.3L Powerstroke Excursion; rattling off performance specs gets them to leave you alone 99% of the time). I even told him exactly where I was staying. He seemed satisfied, thentold me that "they" (exactly who, I don't know) had received a complaint a guy taking pictures of cars. This confused me...

What this guy didn't seem to know was that I'd just left the house like 5 minutes earlier (if that). This was nowhere near enough time for someone at Congress Hall to call 911 or the police non-emergency number, and got some random glorified meter maid on a bike to pedal his ass over there. Also, Congress Hall had its own security and they didn't seem to care...

We had been in Cape May about four days at this point, and I'd spent most of those four days taking pictures without incident...

I actually told him this and he took this as a "confession" of sorts, and ever do snidely said "I wasn't talking about the few days, sir." This really pissed me off.

I asked this guy how he'd responded so fast when I'd only left the house minutes earlier. He said, again ever so smugly, that it was because there were several volunteers on bikes, and their whole purpose was quicker response times than uniformed officers in marked patrol cars. If they need backup from the sworn officers, all they had to do was radio it in.

I gave this prick an "Are we done yet?" look.

If he'd asked to see my ID, I would have told him to go harass someone else, and they if Cape May PD had a problem with me taking pictures, they could some see at the house my family was renting and I'd be happy to chat with them.

Luckily he didn't, and this further proves he was bullshitting me about someone calling the cops on me...

I would also like to point out that he didn't tell me the Congress Hall parking lot was private property and that I had to leave immediately. He didn't tell me that I was not allowed to be in that parking lot or that I wasn't supposed to be taking pictures.

My theory is that he just happened to be riding by, he was bored, and he saw me taking pictures so he thought he'd harass me and flaunt his power...

Luckily, I put him right in his place and he rode off...

Aspergers, not aspbergers. Don't feel bad though...

My boss and I get into arguments about the pronunciation too (she's convinced it's pronounced azz-burgers)!

Back in 2013, after driving my 2010 RC for more than two years with the shitty factory sound system, I'd had enough...

I knew I wanted Pioneer because of their reputation in the car audio industry, so I purchased an all-Pioneer system. This consisted of the only Pioneer component speakers system that would fit my truck ($110) and a single-DIN AM/FM CD receiver with USB input, Bluetooth, etc ($130).

I knew nothing about car stereo installation at the time, so I paid a buddy to do it. This friend was an ASE certified mechanic who worked at the local Munroe Muffler & Brake, and had installed stereos in his own vehicles before. He and his friend did the install in an evening at the Munroe.

My all-Pioneer system kicked some serious ass, but after backing into a few things, I decided I wanted a backup camera. A drunk driver hit me in October 2015, and his restitution money ended up paying for my new head unit and backup camera. I chose to get a Sony instead of a Pioneer because the Sony had USB and AUX in the front, and none of the Pioneer touch-screen units did. The one I'm buying, which is a new model and on national backorder, does not have front USB port, but I know more than I did then and I have an idea of where I'm going to run the USB extension cord...

The Sony worked great for the first few months, but one thing I immediately noticed was that my favorite radio station (93.3 WMMR) did not come in very well. Within the first six months, the unit started experience glitches and even crashed my iPod a few times.

In May 2017, my friend installed a Boss navigation head unit it his Lincoln and said he'd loved his previous Boss unit (which did not have GPS). Instead of exchanging the Sony for another Sony like I should have done, I exchanged it for the Boss BV960N (same unit Dave still has in his Town Car and loves). One thing I noticed the moment we got the Boss installed, and up and running, was that it would not read my iPod files. I just lived with this and used a 3.5mm AUX cord. Now, about ten months later, the novelty of having in-dash GPS has worn off. Unfortunately, Crutchfield is not willing to exchange another head unit that's passed the 60-day moneyback policy, so I'm going to pay for this one out of pocket (Sony was $280 and paid for with drunk driver's restitution money; Boss was $250 and I exchanged the Sony for it and credit points). However, I am glad I'm going back to the brand I love!
