This may be a dumb question but here goes. The driver’s window will automatically go down with one press of the button. However, I have to hold the button up in order to roll the window up. Is there a reasonable way to change this setting?

In my wife's 08 Highlander, the drivers window will go all the way down or up with the correct one time press of the button. I've gotten used to it and am missing the feature on the Taco.

    Which trim did you get?

Unfortunately, you would have to replace the unit for one that does that if yours did not come standard. My trd off-road came with it standard so if you want to swap em, I’m pretty sure you just need to swap the control module.

I have the SR5 trim. Surely they wouldn't skimp on a feature this small. Surely.

    You would be surprised...

My Silverado prior to my Tacoma had the window controls like yours (automatic down, but not up) and it was an LT... one package up, it had it automatic up and down .

    You can...
It should have come set to do that; unless something else is boogered up.

There is a type A (auto down only) and a type B (auto up and auto down).

If you have type B, and it's not closing with one-touch, try performing the following steps
    to reset the function:

Hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing position. Continue
holding the switch for a further 4 seconds after the window has closed.
If jam detection occurs during step , repeat step within 4 seconds of
    jam occurrence.

Hold the power window switch in the one-touch opening position. Continue
holding the switch for more than 1 second after the window has
    opened completely.

Hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing position once
again. Continue holding the switch for more than 1 second after the window
    has closed.

If you release the switch while the window is moving, start again from the
    beginning.

If the window continues to close but then re-open slightly even after performing
the above procedure correctly, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
    dealer.

I must have type A. It’s a 2017 SR5. I’ll check into adding the module that converts it into an auto up/down. Thanks!

Modified the level of gas in the tank
Look at the window power button...does it say auto on it? Mine does both and says auto...wonder what the type A has.
