    What’s up everyone!
I am new here, I am looking to getting a Tacoma. First Tacoma ever purchased. Im pretty excited. Wanted to get opinions on TRD sport, 4x4, and 4x2? The only thing I am certain of is I want the Cement color. Some help on what you guys like. Looking to add my own modifications slowly every couple of months.

Welcome. They are all good. You just need to evaluate what you can spend and what you want to do with it.
Make sure you test drive, test drive, test drive.

I'm pretty biased, but I feel if you are going to buy a truck then get 4x4. I went with the TRD OR for crawl control and MTS (most of the "stuff" on the Sport is for show and doesn't really have a use). I also went with the long bed because I tend to put bolt down tool boxes in the back and a short bed with a box leaves you with very little usable bed space. Be advised the DCLB makes for a LONG truck (longer than my friends Suburban) and parking the truck in the city can get "interesting".

More people regret not getting 4x4 than getting it. It’s cheaper to buy it the first time than trade later just to get 4x4.

It does depend on what climate you live in, but these days it seems like it may snow anywhere in the US. I’m in Illinois, and watched Texas and Georgia get snow before us this year.
The 4x4 is invaluable anywhere it snows. And resale value is higher percentage wise on a 4x4.

Welcome to TW! Take your time selecting which taco you buy, and as previously mentioned.... test drive!!

    Welcome to TW!

I had a 2016 TRD Sport 2wd and loved the truck, but I regretted not getting the 4x4. I don't always need 4wd, but I had a few close calls with getting the 2wd stuck and I didn't like having to worry about that. I eventually traded it for a 2017 TRD OR 4x4 and I have enjoyed being able to leave the beaten path without being nervous about getting stuck or having to turn around if there's a bit of trouble. If it's never going to leave the pavement, the 2wd is perfectly fine, unless you get a lot of snow. It all comes down to how you're going to use the truck.

Thanks everyone. I’m going to go test drive some today. Looks like I’m leaning toward the 4x4! I live in beautiful San Diego and there are plenty of off-roading country roads to take this bad boy on!!!
