Glad I found this thread, looking for a good solution to this. Toyota wants $105 for single liner

OP, what did you end up doing, have any pics?

@cnote4l any updates on these precut liners?

Polyethylene sheet is the closest you will find to stock material. Find a supplier of HDPE (high density polyethylene) pipe and they may also stock sheet or better yet have cut offs.

I have some from a former employer that was used to line a garbage dump. It is also used at chemical plants to line collection ponds. Greenhouse suppliers may also carry it.

Thanks for the info. I saw that HDPE was mentioned in another thread. I thought the idea of using rubber sheets like what was mentioned in here was interesting because it might be easier to manipulate and make fit. How was your experience lining the garbage dump with HDPE?

I had long left the company by the time they started carrying that product but one of my best friends is still there. He gave me some left overs from a job which I used to skin a snow plow I built for my tractor. Works well and is very durable. IF you had a local shop that dealt with it you can cut and re-weld the material to make different shapes. In the case of installing it for lining ponds or similar applications you weld each section to the next one. The process is similar to what we did for making custom flanges where a “gun” heats the material as well as a filler rod and extrudes the filler while injecting into the melted base material. Kind of like a spool gun when mig welding.

Phillips 66 was our supplier of pipe and who knows if they were the supplier of sheet. Look into distributors of their product and they may carry the sheet as well.

Interesting. I’ll look into local places that might carry it. I think if I could find big enough pieces to cut I might give it a shot otherwise having to melt pieces together may be more of an undertaking than what I had in mind. I appreciate all the insight.

The Tacoma fender liners are on hold for the moment due to a broken leg. However we've been testing materials and hdpe or pvc sheets is our recommendation for DIY. I'm aiming to launch the Precut fender liners on the site by July www.geartechcustoms.com
Those guards suit your truck great too :spy:

How did you secure it to the fender well and what thickness did you go with?

So when I cut my fenders to clear 35's I left tabs along the fenders that I was able to drill through and attach the sheet to with screws. Let me know if you have more questions. Oh and I went with 1/8". Love this stuff. Here's a pic of my rear fender which I still need to make liners for.

I didn't. it fits tight in the wheel well. the material is really rigid and stays put.

All I did was drill a hole through the liner and the tabs that I left when I cut my fenders. than I just screwed in the screws and they hold.
