    I've done that.

Made a BMW spin sideways once and semis go off the road when they paniced.

What I do when I am on a steep hills is I keep my right foot on the break pedal and slowly release the clutch until I feel my engine rpms are about to die, then release the breaks and start accelerating, you won't roll back at all.

p.s I don't have hill assist nanny feature.

Ah yes, but you do have a handbrake! Use it dammit!

No need for the hand brake on hill starts, just use the force Luke!

Having a handbrake next to me instead of a pedal is a new feature for me, I occasionally still look for that little pedal when I park truck:anonymous:

Yup, I came out of a GMC Sierra and had the same pedal for ebrake...wasn't impressed when driving thru downtown Toronto and had a brake line rupture and had to make my way to safety with a foot on the ebrake, hand on the release for ebrake while steering and navigating. Ended up in the front parking lot of Queens Park (Ontario Legislature for those non Ontario types). Parking an unidentified half ton pickup, with a cap on the back, in front of the government sitting legislature buildings...let's just say I got some attention lmao

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!

Even better... Driving someone else's automatic, you pull away from the curb and start down the street, then jam your left foot on the brake pedal like it was a clutch.

Not that I've ever done this, of course.

Yeah, I do use the handbrake occasionally. Just feels like a rookie move. I would have appreciated hill assist. I guess by some logic Toyota decided Off-Road owners wouldn't want it.

I absolutely HATE automatic. It's so sad that manual transmissions are a dying breed. I had to find a car buying service that would special order my 2017 Taco with a manual. He kept asking "And you're sure you want a manual?!"

When I went to take delivery of my truck there were half a dozen sales guys standing around with their phones out in case I changed my mind. Demand is high.

Keep em maintained and in clean shape ladies and gents. The moment they officially discontinue the MT, resale just gets exponential. I'll be keeping mine regardless

You made his job 10 times harder, he was gonna have to work to find you a manual.

I searched and searched and couldn't hardly find manuals, let alone with the features I wanted. And even worse, the dealerships weren't even willing to special order them. Grateful I found the car buying service through my credit union that was able to order mine with everything I wanted. So worth the wait.

I've done it. Some ppl can't drive manuals but autos are tricky too.

I agree, I like women who drive manual transmissions.
Oh and welcome to the island.

Same here. Nearly wrecked my mom's BMW years ago, I was driving it in "manual mode" (where you can use the shifter like a manual trans but without a clutch), ended up slamming the brake pedal on accident in the middle of an intersection, was really fortunate no one was behind me.

Yeah here in SoCal all the salesmen kept trying to get me to stray away from 4x4 and manual trans (2 options that are harder to find out here than most places). I finally told them that those 2 options are non-negotiable, it HAD to have both.

Their primary job is to sell you on something that they have on the lot right now, so you're less likely to go elsewhere and the quicker the sale the quicker the profit.

    My two favorites,
"you can still select the gear you want with the automatic Tacomas!"
(I'd say '3 pedals or no pedals' in response to that)

    and

"the rear locker and traction control features makes it just as good as the 4x4!"
 No thanks bud, I had a rear locked Prerunner before and it was fun but nowhere near as capable offroad as my TRD 4x4.
