Hey all, I've done some searching on the forums and just looking for more feedback. I just had a blowout on my 265/75/16 cooper at3 C loads so I did the rational thing and bought some SCS F5's in 17 x 18.5 for a whole new setup.

My truck is already a pig even with C's. I have full steel bumper, winch, full skids, sliders, topper, roof rack, and all the other heavy shit.

Will an E rated 285/70/17 wreck my auto trans with stock gearing for a little while?

Currently running 285/70r17 BFG KO's (not KO2). I'm going the opposite way though, going back to 16's with 265/75 Falken AT3W.

    No.

I don't need 3" lift and 33" tires for what I use this truck for (camping/fishing/daily driver). I have a lifted XJ for being silly off-road. Going down to a lighter 16" wheel and lighter tires is shaving about 20-25lbs per corner of rotating mass; that's a lot.

Stepping down to 1.75" lift and 32" tires, and replacing all of the hacked up plastics while I'm at it (un-fucking the PO's handiwork).

I run the Falken AT3/w in 285 xl. Similar to a load C. I have bumper, winch, skids, sliders, canopy and cab rack. Everything works as it should. Mpg isn't super awesome though.

I run 285 Cooper ST Maxx. No issues here. Gas mileage really didn’t change much from the 265/75 at3 I had before

Well I guess it not xl. It's an SL. But at 2833# per tire I'm at 2/3 of the weight.

Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3's 285/70/17 E-Rated.. I've had them about 6 months and no issues. Reason I got E-rated was to tow my 17' ski boat and even then the truck doesn't complain. The tires feel the same as the C-rated I had before these and MPG didn't change.
