Hello, i have a 07 double cab prerunner with the JBL system in it. I have a kenwood 10 inch shallow sub sitting behind the rear back seat. Obviously have an amp running the sub. The door speakers are all the stock jbl running on the stock jbl amplifier. I think some speakers are partially blown and the sub seems to be getting there too. Was wanting advice on some good door speakers, tweeters, and shallow subs for my truck if anyone can help that would be great. I like loud vocals and a decent amount of bass. Thanks!

I went with a pair of Focal IC 690TOY in the front and Focal RCX-165 in the back. Powering all of these with an Alpine power pack. I am extremely happy with the setup. Crisp highs and decent lows.

Lots of fresh comments in the audio and video thread on this very topic.

I replaced my stock speakers with CDT speakers, which have been around since the 70s over in Europe. They are an audiophile sounding speaker, and are now located in the Los Angeles area. I put hd690s in the doors and they installed es-1200is tweeters in the 6x9s to make them a coaxial I did that so I wouldn’t have to use a sub, which I ended up adding at the end. I then added es-02blx which are 2” midtweeters in place of original tweeter. Then a pair of image tweeters that mount on the windshield above pillar that face to the center of dash, which adds a soundstage upfront. The 6x9, the tweeter mounted in the 6x9, and image tweeter up high are connected to ex-560cd crossover, and the mid tweeter has its own crossover with a small knob that controls volume of the 2” mid tweeters. I have a Sundown audio sax-150x2 to drive all those speakers. After installing them, the 6x9 hit pretty low but I felt a good sub would complete the sound. I went with the 8” Qes-820 with a focal 900x1 which was wired in series so you really get 500 watts of really clean power. That 8” sub is mounted in a custom small box that mounts over the back floor hump between center counsel and back seat, it is down firing. The focal amp has a external knob to raise and lower the power. I mounted that knob and the knob for the 2” mid tweet in the little shelf area to the right of the steering wheel. I also 1B9DEBD6-2BEC-4954-8949-FDBEA0D8911E.jpg 5D520BFD-ED3A-4461-8AFF-AA7F8E2BD2EB.jpg sound deadened the front and back doors, and installed pioneer 4201 nex receiver. I left the rear speakers in for now and drive them with the power from the pioneer. Luckly I found a real good installer to do the work, he hid everything so all you see is the sub and Image tweeter. To make this long story short,it sounds the way music is suppose to sound. The silk dome tweeters are super smooth the mids real clean and the 8” sub hits just right. You will hear instruments you never herd in songs and with the two knobs you can dial up or down the sub and the 2” midtweet. If I did it again I would have gone 6.5 in the door instead of 6x9 since I found a great set up for a sub that works and looks great in a access cab that has limited space. This was not a cheap upgrade but well worth it. Now like Lynyrd Skynyrd said. Turn it up!
