Hi all I noticed that two of my front bumper mounting studs are messed up. One is entirely missing and the other has its threads completely stripped.

What's the best way to deal with this? Replace the studs? Weld a bolt? Anyone have similar experiences?

    A. Get a nut and a bolt to fit in there after you pound them out with a hammer
    B. Weld a new bolt on the frame rail.
    C. Go to a dealer or a junkyard and rob some good studs off and install them in your truck

Can’t you get a bolt threading tool and rethread them?

    What he said.
There are only three on each side
When you've fixed them weld a 3/16 plate in front to strengthen that area. A guy on here sells the plates if you don't wanna make em.

I don't think there's enough material to cut strong threads. If anything I'd rather just cut out the stud and replace it with a bolt...

I haven't dug into this one yet. Are the studs similar to wheel studs? A little research may find good match for a replacement part. They are typically grade 12.9 material so plenty strong - and sometimes have a variety of lengths and knurl sizes available at the mounting hole for good fit. To prevent the rust that seems to have caused the stripped threads - wash the exposed threads after install with alcohol and coat with gun blue, then seal with RTV.

Turns out they're not studs at all, they're actually bolts with a really wide and round heads that are spot welded! I'm probably just gonna use a bolt and weld it up...
