I was hoping to consolidate some pics and info into one thread. I am looking at buying a KBvoodoo bed rack. The big thing that I want is to be able to use with my factory tonneau cover. I am aware it doesn't open, but it fits. I am not interested in the contractor rack they offer. I was hoping some people can chime in with pics and their experience. I think I like the look of the long which does fit on a short bed. Does anyone fthat got the long think it makes it too hard to access stuff in the bed? For those with mid, do you have a lot of loss of vision in rear view mirror? For those with tall, does the loss of gas mileage kill things?
Also, what has been you experience mounting things, either with or without their maxtrack mounts.
Thanks for the insight and pics

If you plan on running it with tonneau I'd recommend getting mid height. I was amazed how much the full height killed mpg.

Once you throw on the tonneau mount it sits about an inch and a half above the roof line.

I have the short bed, full height version. Shipped it to my uncles in New Jersey as I was going to be going down to visit family anyways and it was easier to ship in the US than to Canada. With my drive from Toronto to NJ I averaged about 12L/100km
The route I take is the same whether going to or from the US as its the same up and down hill type terrain regardless. So the terrain itself could not be the considering factor in the MPG.

Once I got to my uncles I attached the rack using the tonneau mounts, it makes the rack sit about an inch or two above the cab. On the drive back home I averaged 16.2L/100km. No substantial difference in wind, or weight.
Even once I got back and left it on for the week noticed a substantial drop in MPG compared to my normal driving, only thing that changed was the rack being on. As soon as it came off or switched to no tonneau mount and had it sit at same height it was fine and only a 0.3L/100km change.

Wouldn't think the slight difference would drastically change drag but it did. For that I would seriously recommend staying away from the full height w/ tonneau unless you're prepared for that loss.

On the note I will admit I was also pretty disappointed with the paint quality of the rack. I got the premium one and around where it mounts I am really disappointed with how much the paint is flaking off. Seem like the metal just wasn't primed properly. Everywhere else it seems to be holding up with no issue but at the edge near the mounting point its complete garbage.

Other than the paint flaking off and the loss of MPG its been great though. Sturdy and very useful for mounting.
I never had intentions of running it with tonneau other than for bringing back across the border to look as if it was always there lol.
All my camping gear etc is in plano totes that seem to be weatherproof enough so I just keep bed open. Also allows for more use of space as the tonneau limited height.
I don't use a RTT but do use the rack to attach one end of my hammock.

Note: if you buy it with the tonneau mounts you do not get the mounts to use it without tonneau as well and will need to purchase them separate. Although you can use it with the tonneau mounts without tonneau on you'll have it above the cab like I mentioned above. So I was a little disappointed it didn't come with both.

Also if mounting with tonneau I think it is definitely a two person job once assembled. But with no tonneau its easy to mount solo since you can stand in the bed while mounting.

Chad was always helpful whenever I contacted him so I will say the customer service is great.

I'll upload pics in a minute.

I have the mid-high rack with a tent and I really like it. It does block your view quite a bit in the rear view but I just use the side mirrors. I've got a bumper with tire mount and fuel cans anyway so it makes the mirror completely useless. I haven't noticed a lot of drag or loss of mpg. It's a little bit of a bitch not being able to open the tonneau cover but I can live with it. The quality is great and well worth the money. I have a shovel mounted on one side and my high-lift jack on the other. With camp lights on the rear. The mounting options are great on the rack. Pictures are in my build thread linked in my signature.

With tonneau mount you can see it sits above the roof line

It does help open up space thats for sure.
I can not store my hi lift, treds, shovel and tire on the rack. Means tire is at easy access while on trail and I open up space in the bed for carrying fire wood and just having spare space now.

KBVoodoo has had multiple members here complain and show rusted out tail gate covers and failed racks, seems someone is deleting these posts that are critical of their products, that’s pretty messed up.

There were multiple posts deleted in product reviews forum.

Curious.. with the high version and the tonneau mount, do you think you could store a full size spare tire on top of the cover and under the rack? Do you think it could be done with the mid version and tonneau mount?

    Full height version for sure.
    Medium don't know.

That rack is long gone now though.

Thanks. With the full height version and tonneau mount, would you also say you could have a longer rtt that'd be able to float over top of the roof?

Doubtful it was only maybe a half inch to inch over the roof line. You'd still hit the antenna fin
