Ecgs axle trouble

    I went to instill my new ecgs bushing and after trying over and ever we could not get the cv pulled out so we never got it done. Anyone have any tips/advice on how to pull the axle out

    I used a big pry bar and just slowly worked around it. I’ve seen a lot of people use a hammer and a piece of stainless steel cable though.

    theres a video that shows how to do it
    i used a 5pd hammer and a pry bar
    I didnt know at the time but if you should rotate it each time and give it a few hits
    eventually the c clip on the shaft will be pointing the right way
    this also helps when you put it back in

    Yup. It’s more a pain in the ass than the DIYs make it seem. I always wedge a fat chisel in the gap between the axle and the chamshell. Then I hit the handle it the chisel sideways (toward the wheel) to pop the cv out. Sometimes rotating the cv between intervals of prying helps too. Getting it back in is a pain too. The trick is to make sure he opening of the c clip is pointing down before you insert it to the chamshell.

    We tried the rotate and pry method for about 45min and never got it. I guess we will just have to try again someday

    Yea. I always have to pry with the extra force of a hammer. Just hit the shit outta it. It will come out.

    Go to Harbor Freight and buy a mini sledge and a very long flathead screwdriver. Something like 18" long. Put that flathead screwdriver up against the inside tab of the inboard tulip and give it a few whacks with the hammer pushing the axle outwards. If it doesn't pop out, give the axle 1/8 of a rotation and repeat.

    I'll pop out and is so much easier than the steel cable or prying methods.
