Hi guys I’m new at TW and new about my truck and I just have a question A week ago I had my 10,000 miles oil change and today that I was installing my c4 fab bumper I noticed a leak that is coming from there and I don’t know if the dealer didn’t notice it when they did the oil change or if you guys have had any problems with?

In the picture there appears to be a little newer oil with some dirt at the upper right aluminum filter mating surface.
At the upper left there appears to be a bit of dried up or older oil and dirt on the aluminum surface.

Is there any clean oil on the black plastic filter housing? If there is new oil on the plastic housing, it could have a crack in it. Some people have reported cracked filter housings after oil changes.
Or, it might just be oil that was splashed up onto or was left over oil on the mounting surface or on the cartridge when the filter was replaced.

I would just thoroughly clean the housing and mating surface with a rag and cleaner or degreaser and see if the oil returns.

If it returns, you might have a leak.

How bad is the leak? Maybe it is just some residual oil leftover from the change.

Looks like they maybe just did a shitty job of cleaning up after they changed your oil.

Welcome to the forum. I’d wipe it off and check it in a day or two.

Are you sure its just not left over oil from when they did your oil change. I just changed the oil myself today and that shit gets all over when you pull out the drain plug. I had to get a rag and really wipe it off. Wipe it off and look at it again later.

Yup. I’d advise taking it to the dealer. I had to replace mine because they overtightened it and they won’t do anything for me now. On a positive note, the replacement I got from the local parts store is metal so it won’t be happening again.

I had a faulty seal ring that broke during install of the filter can last oil change. I had to put another new seal in and top off the oil again.

Take it back to the dealer, tell them its leaking. Have them make it right, make your truck whole again. And before you drive off their lot, open the hood and look down at the filter housing and make sure its clean as its supposed to be, and if so drive off and find a reputable establishment for your service needs.

Looks to me like a sloppy job of cleaning up. Do you have oil on the top of the skid plate? If this filter housing is truly leaking (vs just having oil residue on it) you'll have oil leaking onto the skid plate.
