    Welcome!

First, you'll find a LOT of different personalities on this forum. Some are more... blunt, than others. As for your dash lights issue, the sensor on your dash could be obstructed, but if it was then that would cause your lights to stay on constantly. There's also a chance that the dash brightness setting has been accidentally lowered. I'm not sure where the setting is on the thrid gens, but on the second gens there is a small dial next to the instrument cluster that controls brightness. The 2nd gens' doesn't automatically dim so it's purely manual.

In any event, if it's a '16 then it may still be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty so you can take it to a dealer to have it checked out. Truth be told, when I bought my truck new, the brightness of the instrument cluster is not something I checked either! I also didn't test drive it in every season and weather condition.. Just saying, lol.

Oh, you can also ask questions specifically in the 3rd gen threads and may get better responses there. And check out the threads specific to where you live. Hawaii (assuming you're living there) has quite a few members and meet-ups. There may be a Taco enthusiast nearby you that can help you out.

    Good luck!

    Aloha Simplehuman,
Tthanks for the welcome and I have the dash brightness to the max. I stopped by at Toyota a couple of days ago to see why my dash went blank and the only thing on, was a message in the rectangular box in the middle of the cluster saying maintenance required. I asked the guy how to adjust the brightness and he said it is the knob that handles the millage reset. I told him that I tried that but it wouldn't turn so he tried it and got the same results. I told him that I will report that on my next service so no big thing. When I got home I tried it again with the same results and felt stupid that it only turns left or right one click but you have to wait a second or so and then the brightness screen will come up. It seems that I screwed up turning it left or right, thinking that it will move like a rheostat and stopped when it didn't turn. LOL. On my next service I will ask them why the dash light takes longer to come on when it used to come on faster before they had to reset whatever they resettled.

    Mahalo,
