I had my frame inspected back in November. Just got my replacement in last week, scheduled to drop off Friday the 9th, finished and picked up from the dealership Tuesday the 13th! All great! Only cost to me was $100 to put on my extended brake lines :D

Call your dealers service dept with the VIN, they can tell you. If you’ve got a warranty notice, or your vehicle shows the warranty enhancement, they’re good up until May no matter what the in service date is, I believe.

I'd like to think yes but I don't trust toyota at all. I'm thinking that unless there's an actual 10mm hole they'll say no. Just keep banging on it until there's a hole, maybe help it rust so it breaks quicker? From everything I've read I wouldnt' want my frame to pass unless it was pristine and in perfect condition, it sounds like toyota's coating is a waste of time. I am definitely going to wait for my inspection until I find a hole first, I don't want to go through the hassle of inspection/coating/reinspection.

Anyone have pics post Toyota undercoating?

Also, if you only qualify for the coating does that then extend the warranty period during which the frame can be replaced. I got a lot of rust but no holes...

Has anybody asked Toyota if they would buy their truck instead of replacing the frame? I have an ‘05 I just took to a dealer...they are replacing the frame but I have to wait 3 months for the frame to arrive. If they gave me a good offer I’d take it.

Dropped mine off today. Frame being ordered after official inspection for a hole they already had pics of I sent. In rental hybrid Camry I am going to enjoy my gas savings on.

I just did a frame last week and the customer was a mean SOB he was pissed that we wouldn't buy his truck back. He called toyota in texas, called our district rep and called out FTS. He took the frame cause it was that or nothing.

Good to know, thanks. I asked the dealer when I was there and they said it wasn’t an option but figured they may just want the $ for the work. Was thinking about calling Toyota. If it costs them $16k to replace the frame wouldn’t it be easier just to write a check for the same amount and be done with it?

It's mid-winter here in PA, so I didn't do a thorough under truck crawl, but here are some pics from under the front bumper:

WOW! I cant believe it took as long as it did for some of yall! I dropped my 05 dcsb off at Toyota of Knoxville around noon on monday... wednesday morning i got the call it was done! Yes... not even 2 full days to perform my frame replacement. A friend if mine works in the body shop and texted some pics of it apart to me. He said the crew they had doing it are experts and i believe him.

When i came to pick it up, i told the service advisor, “i dont know if i should be very impressed, or scared to death to sit in it!” I am very impressed.

So what would happen if, since my truck is an 09 I have until 2021, I just didn't show up for my spray appointment in early April? In hopes I have another 2.5 years for it to fail frame inspection.

Thanks, that looks great. Is the inside of the frame coated also?

I’m not worried about the process. My buddy actually has been working at this dealer for years and said the main mechanic doing these has the process down perfectly. Just a matter of getting the parts in and ready.

My one question is what else gets done during the process? Is there anything I should ask to have done? I was going to buy new shocks and struts (5100s) while it was apart but besides that not sure what else I would need?

I own a 2010, so in service date should be 2010 or later, maybe late 2009 at the earliest. With the 12 yr span to get the frame inspected, that should net me untill 2021/22. However, when I signed up to the toyota owners site (I am in Canada) the Date of first use is: "January 03, 0001"

So should I call someone to correct to most likely Jan 03, 2010? Or am I potentially screwed if I wait :notsure:

I had my dealer replace the upper and lower rad hoses, since they replace the coolant during the recall. I was hoping they would be changing the trans fluid as well, but nope... the engine, trans and tcase were all lifted off with the cab.

I own two Tacomas. 2003 and 2010. My 2010 didn't pass inspection and they replaced the frame. Extended warranty covered several other items they found. I bought new shocks, since the truck has over 90k. My son drives my 2003. The frame was treated twice. Once when I bought it used and in 2014. I brought it in for a frame inspection and they said it wasn't safe to drive. I learned that since the frame had been treated, the dealer didn't even have to ask Toyota. They provided an Enterprise car at no charge. I never thought they would agree to a frame on a 2003. It needs about an additional 1200 dollars in repairs but I'll take it. Hopefully this helps other people with treated frames. The first frame took about six weeks to come in. Since the 2003 is not safe to drive, I'll see how long the frame takes. They have two mechanics that pretty much just replace frames. The dealerships must be making out in the deal because they seemed happy to do it.

Glad I found this, just created an account. Bought my 08 in May and now am starting to notice rust spots, no holes, but I haven't looked very thoroughly yet. Will be making an appointment for it to be inspected soon, almost hoping it needs replacing just so I've got a nice new frame to sit on. Lots of great info on this thread.
