Beautiful custom. I’m a lefty so it’s a little tougher for me to find right hand retrieve older penns, but almost every one I come across in decent condition I buy immediately. E2BC8820-C9B9-4188-8D27-1400DE7FF4BE.jpg

I just cruised eBay and it looks like some decent 704's can be found for $30-40. I might go that route since I haven't used one and it seems to be a popular preference of folks.

Great! Parts are readily available for these if you ever need them as well at very good prices. Good luck man!

Any advantage to the manual over a bailer? Is it just less moving parts and no chance of the bailer flipping over midcast? Never heard nor used a manual...:notsure:

Yes, lots of guys throw $18-25 plugs and with a manual there is much less chance of breaking them off. Also, less moving parts=better reliability. Bail springs fail frequently.

So the bailer wire part is gone and the roller stays stagnant? So you have to manually put the line there to reel in or take it off to cast? I do despise loosing my homemade fish finder rigs and the occasional plug.

Couldn't you just take the bailer wire off? Wouldn't that accomplish the same thing instead of investing $20-30 in a conversion kit.

You can, but the reel will most likely be off balance.

Finally got out to Wisconsin to see my buddy @SAWDOG18 to exchange Christmas gifts. I got him a new vinyl to add to the collection. He got me this bitchin muskie themed cribbage board.

Hey I'm heading down to Anna Maria Island next Friday for a week. I'm a LMB fisherman and am generally clueless when it comes to saltwater fishing. Any tips would be helpful.

Shrimp is usually a good, live go to bait in that area. Soft plastics you may want to try are 4"-5" assassins (root beer body w/ chartreuss tail) on 1/4-5/8 oz jig heads. You'll catch Snook, Redfish and Speckled trout on that bait.
Rinse your gear with fresh water after each trip.
