generally there should be a maximum 24 hour delay on dealer website inventory feeds and third party (cars.com, autotrader, etc). you can save searches and set up notifications when vehicles listed like that come up for sale

Usually there are two ways I am buying a vehicle.. either brandy brand new so i can just research online with the manuf. websites, or looking for a bit of a deal with a vehicle in mind, so I chose the dealership I'm willing to work with and then shop whatever they have. I find that you need to go in and see them though, some stuff isn't on the websites quick enough.

 

Gonna try to run a few errands with the oldest... My buddy who works for UPS is working, and his wife has a meeting from 11-1, so she's dropping off their 1 1/2 year old for a bit for a play date.

Gonna try to convince the oldest to get away from watching Chicken Little (that's his new favorite movie), so we can go to Lowe's so I can buy some filters for the fridge and the drinking water system we have under the sink, and some salt pellets for the water softener. Then, gonna try to shoot to Autozone to get the wife's Mazda checked, since the fucking check engine light is on...

Then probably after lunch I have to help my FIL with a little something at their rental house, which hopefully won't take long, since my soccer team in Portugal plays at 3 and I want to watch the game.

Unfortunately, the way new truck pricing is these days, I'm likely not looking new. I'll let someone else take that initial depreciation hit and buy it $10k below initial pricing That's sort of the issue though, finding the used truck I want with all the options I want. Thankfully, I'm not in a rush.

 

That guys on TW he posted it and got roasted hard for the insane price tag... although it only takes one stupid with a checkbook

 

More dealers advertise on autotrader than cars.com, however there are plenty of dealers that only advertise on cars too so it might be worth checking both.

 

Check engine light check at autozone turned out to be lose gas cap. Wife's car...nuff said.

 

Thanks. I might just be limiting my search a bit too much. I know what I want, but I might be trying to get too specific with my searches.

In related news, I came across a used Titan XD diesel that I might go test drive. I have no intention of buying one of them but I really do want to drive one. It's dead at work so I think I'll cut out early and do that on the way home.

 

Some vins don't decode all the options, so if your searching for example trucks only with nav, you might be missing some

Was gunna say. I’ve seen that ad before. Pretty sure it was the guy that was charging $50 just to test drive it for “serious buyers”

 

I'm actually looking for a low mileage diesel so my search criteria has been diesel as the fuel type and crew cab. I usually exclude the Fords because they seem to have a very thirsty diesel for some reason. As much as I hate to admit it, the Ram 2500 Cummins seems to be the best fit, at least on paper.

 

I know at least on the 6.4 trucks, it eats diesel during it's exhaust cleaning cycle shit it does, looks like a blown head gasket while is does it too

 

They all suck down fuel during their regen process, that's across the board. They dump a shit down of fuel into the exhaust to heat it up and burn the shit out of the particulate filter. Cummins does the process a little differently than the V8s but they accomplish the same thing and get a whole 8-10 MPG while doing it for 10-20 miles or so. I just meant, in general, the Ford diesel seems to suck down fuel a little more than the Duramax and Cummins. I know you don't buy a truck like that for the fuel economy, but it certainly adds up quick along with the other higher operating costs associated with modern diesels.

 

How does this work? Does it chemically burn off the hair like Nair?
