After brushing, you can apply a good layer of Break Free to the bore and let it sit. After a day or two, clean the bore, apply another coating of BF. Keep cleaning and re-applhing until the rust is gone.

Break Free actually works its way under the rust, separating it from the steel. It takes a little time, but works very well.

Depending on the severity of corrosion and purpose of firearm, it may need to be re-barreled.

A rifle intended for long range accuracy can tolerate very little intra-bore variance and retain accuracy, for example, where as a shotgun could have a cobblestone barrel lining and not really give a fuck.

If you're going to try cleaning first, a brass brush followed by several solvent soaked patches followed by borescope inspection followed by oiling would be my first attempt.

This is also a great lesson in why regularly re-lubricating your firearms is a great idea. Any good oil is also a moisture repellent. A package of dessicants in the safe (or a jar of kitty litter) is a good idea too.

Not sure where or when he got the rifle. I just know out dirty as shit!

I've fired it and its good so for up to 350 yards don't think I will be hunting with it.
    Just want to preserve it.

Practice while moving, you'll naturally get better while not moving.

I thought about using my 4x4 rc car and mounting plates to for the 22.
I have yet to design a cage but I think it will work.
I would like to try this and have it move as well

Just some little advice, you might want to look at upgrading the extractor, solid firearm but that’s probably the weakest link

Made a world of difference on mine

I wouldn't shoot at anything expensive like that. You could try something like this if you want to shoot a moving target. Or just go shoot clays

Yeah... My cousin had one fly out at the range, we spent a good 45min looking for it before I told him to just use my gun. I would second that.

Dang, didn’t know they were flying out. I had 300-400 rounds threw mine and it was pretty worn. Causing jams. Wish I still had it to show you the wear

We were shooting 4" to 12" plates and diamonds from 500 yards. I'm good with not moving :)

Closer stuff with a semi auto I'm all for it
