Screeching Belt

    2006 Toyota Tacoma Base 4x4 6 speed
    Second time I've replaced the drive belt in 6 months.... it never screeched before but after the second time it screeches on EVERY cold and semi cold start. What gives? So far, it's still lined up correctly. @Pigpen got on me about checking it pretty frequently.

    what brand belt? I have been reading OEM belts are far superior manufactor than off the shelf but they do cost a lot more.

    Make sure you don't have an idler pulley that is starting to seize up causing the belt to squeal.

    Remove the belt and spin the pulleys by hand and any that are tight or loose could be suspect and need replacement.

    Pulled the old belt, spun the idlers, put on a new belt from NAPA. Once this cold AF weather goes away, we'll see what's actually going on. If it's not an emergency, I don't fuck with it in this weather.
