Your chain tensioner looks a little tight... might be part of the problem.

But think how easy it is gonna be to fit in the bed on the way home!

The Yakima Bedrock clamps on to the bed...not the bed rails. No drilling or anything like that. The bars sit about 1.5" above the top of the bed sides.

Finally got all the parts to complete my rack install. Easily clears 4 bikes, as long as the outboard bikes face rearward. A long bed would cure that issue.

The spacing worked out so well that I'm going to add a Küat mini skinny in the middle. With that, I could potentially hold a 5th bike, and gear.

The rear wheel straps on the outboard trays look very close to the cab. I’m not quite getting this. Or are they for 20 or 24” bikes?

29er's. The angle doesn't show it well, but that's why they need to be outboard. The outer trays are angled slightly to allow the wheel to sit outside the cab with about an inch or so to spare when opening the rear doors. I should've snapped a pics during the bike test-fit.

^^^ OK, thanks. I carry two 29-ers inside my bed (w/o front wheels) with a shell, and I know it’s very tight. Which is why I usually use a hitch rack, unless I want security or weather protection. The angle makes a big difference but I can’t do that.

Broke my DCSB in for it's first realy shuttle run(s) last week in Santa Cruz. Regularly had 4 bikes, with 5 max. Pretty sure I could have fit at least one more but someone would have to get really friendly in the backseat.

How do you attach the towers for the crossbars?

The towers are designed to accept different adapters that are compatible with the various Yakima cross bars, and OEM bars. My bars are Yakima.

I get it. But, How are the towers attached to the truck? The deck rails or the tonneau?

Yes. The Ultra Groove has a t-slot that the Yakima nuts can slot into.
